Jacob Doest chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing the state of Colorado in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Thomas Jefferson once said: “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” The first half of this quote applies to Jacob Doest, 28, who is repping the state of Colorado in this year’s Mister USA pageant.
Mister USA competition
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment.
It believes in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
On competition for the 2025 Mister USA, Doest said, “Honestly, it’s hard to even put into words. When I got the call with the president of Mister USA and he told me I’d been chosen to represent Colorado , I was just completely stunned – like, I was in shock. I didn’t even know what to say, it’s such an incredible honor and it still feels surreal.”
Colorado
He is drawn to the state of Colorado for several reasons. “I’ve spent some quality years in the state of Colorado. I experience so much growth , change, and evolution as a person there. Living there helped shape me into the man that I am today and I couldn’t be more thankful that I was pushed in a direction to once call it home,” he said.
Daily motivations
Regarding his daily motivations, he shared, “Being the best version of myself- not just for me but for the people around me. I wake up thinking about how I can grow & learn even in small ways. I’ve learned that less is more and staying consistent adds to a meaningful life.”
Future plans
On his future plans, he revealed, “I’d love to travel the world more. Live in a city here and there every like 6-10 months. Also putting myself out there more with opportunities like the one I’ve been given here.”
Jacob on why he feels he deserves to win Mister USA
On why he feels he deserves to win Mister USA, he said, “My story is unique and I believe that I can inspire and make a difference. I’m committed to showing up as my best self and I hope people can resonate with that. Mister USA to me isn’t just about your looks or your talents or how good you are on camera. It’s about being true to yourself and uplifting those around you.”
Best advice he has ever been given
On the best advice that he has ever been given, he revealed, “I had a friend once tell me ‘don’t just chase success, chase purpose.’ It helped me realize that if you lead with intention then good things will always follow. Honestly kinda want this as a tattoo.”
Success
Regarding his definition of the word success, he said, “Success, to me, is about owning your journey and celebrating every victory no matter how big or small. It’s about living YOUR life. No one else’s.
Message for his fans and supporters
For his fans and supporters, he expressed, “Thank you. Thank you for supporting me and believing in me. My friends helped me see how beautiful this opportunity is even if I couldn’t fully see it myself in the moment. I hope I can make each and every one of them proud and make new friends along this journey.”
