CEO and award-winning entrepreneur Gabby Gabriel mourns the loss of her father. She is a partner of Second Wind Media and the CEO of Gab Inc.
In a recent post on social media, she remarked, “My father passed away while holding my hand. I played his favorite song (Madame Butterfly ) and I saw that a tear went down his cheek.”
“Death is something we will all face, yet we rarely talk about it openly—especially here. I’m not sure I’m ready to share all of my feelings now, but I know we need more space for these conversations,” she noted.
“A large part of why I moved back from Asia was to be closer to my parents. But “closeness” isn’t always about geography. Sometimes, the child living nearby feels physically present, while another—pursuing their dreams further away—shares a different kind of bond. It makes me reflect on what closeness really means: is it measured in miles, in moments, or in the depth of connection we carry?” she elaborated.
“What I do know is that my father was proud of me. He encouraged me to live boldly and fully, and the best way I can honor his life is to become the version of myself he always believed in,” she acknowledged. “A large part of what motivates me is to honor the sacrifices the village that build me made. I’m so glad I was there with him when he died, and I said.. “thank you dad, I love you dad, I’ll see you on the other side.”
Deepest condolences to Gabby Gabriel and her family during this time of mourning.
