Darrell Jones chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about being an actor, model, and social influencer in the digital age.
Byron Pulsifer once said: “Imagine, dream, and believe in yourself. With determination and belief, you will be surprised at what you accomplish.” This quote applies to Darrell Jones.
Vertical dramas
On being a part of the vertical dramas world, Jones shared, “It feels pretty cool! I got into them back in August, and ever since I did one project, they were constantly hitting me up to do more and more roles. The scripts and the plots can be crazy but fun. It has been great to get my foot in the acting door.”
Daily inspirations as an actor
Regarding his daily inspirations as an actor, he said, “What inspires me is just to continuously get better each and every. While the scripts and the plots may be sometimes odd or crazy, I still like to perfect my craft to get better as I go,”
“My dream is to be in feature films and TV shows,” he added.
The digital age
On being a part of the digital age, Jones said, “It’s pretty awesome. I would say social media and just the digital age, in general, have given me so many incredible opportunities and kind of changed my life and probably changed the trajectory of where my life was going.”
“I am originally from Oklahoma, and I’ve been pursuing social media ever since I was 16 years old, so it has been amazing,” he added.
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, Jones shared, “To continue to be consistent and grow on social media, develop a stronger audience and also continue to get better in acting, and eventually land some TV and feature film roles with Hollywood being the end goal.”
Career-defining moments
Jones is a firm believer that adversity makes us stronger. “I did go through some tougher times in 2022 and 2023, where it kind of felt like I had this big moment of blowing up in 2020. Then, I got a little complacent, if you will,” he said.
“I kind of put acting and modeling on the back burner, and was just pursuing social media, but not even wholeheartedly,” he admitted. “I would say those two years taught me a lot about myself. Now, things are just so, so much better.”
“I think I’m in like one of the best positions I’ve ever been, shoulder injury excluded,” he acknowledged.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Jones responded, “If not for the shoulder, I would say like the ‘Golden Period,’ but I guess I still could say that because I’m in my golden era.”
“Right now, I’m growing the most I ever have on social media, and I’m getting the most engagement, most views,” he noted.
“I’m acting, landing modeling jobs here and there, and I’m essentially able to have freedom to do most of what I want on any given day,” he elaborated.
“So, yeah, I would say the ‘Golden Period’ still stands,” Jones added.
Advice for young and aspiring actors and models
For young and emerging actors and models, Jones said, “My advice would be to just stay consistent. Don’t take ‘no’ for an answer and just pursue your dreams, regardless of what anyone tells you.”
“I think one of the biggest things is that people have these dreams and goals, and they’ll tell family, friends and just anyone close to them. Sometimes, even your family and friends might not quite understand or be able to be in your shoes and they might shut that down and say, ‘Oh, that’s too hard.’ There is no way this is going to work out,” he elaborated.
“I would say to just ‘stay true to what your heart desires,’ and don’t let anybody get in your way,” he added.
Superpower of choice
If he were to have any superpower, it would be “super healing.”
“I’ve been battling a shoulder injury, so I would love to have Wolverine’s healing capabilities right now,” he admitted. “That would be great so that I can bounce right back.”
Success
On his definition of the word success, Jones remarked, “There are many definitions of success. A lot of people attribute success to money.”
“Having a lot of money may lead to success somewhat, but ultimately, success is to be happy and grateful every day no matter the circumstances,” he explained.
“Just to have friends around me that are uplifting and a good support system. Also, being able to do what I love is a success, and for me, that is acting and social media,” he noted.
“I think having gratitude, happiness, and contentment would be great,” he expressed.
Message for his fans
For his fans and supporters, Jones remarked, “Thank you for the fans for the incredible support. Recently, it has just been absolutely unreal. I’m extremely grateful. This is only the beginning, as I’ve always said.”
“I’m just going to get better and better, and I am super grateful for the fans. I appreciate all their love and support,” he said, effusively.
