Aaron Owen (“Love Island” alum) chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about being a fashion model and social influencer in the digital age.

Legendary western actor John Wayne once said: “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.” This quote applies to Aaron Owen.

‘Love Island’ alum

On being a part of “Love Island,” he said, “I enjoyed it! That show happened very quickly. They reached out to me via Instagram, and I initially thought it was a scam.”

“So, I didn’t even reply to the message,” he admitted. “Then, they reached out to me again and I was like, ‘okay, let’s see what this is about.’ This was back in 2020. It was supposed to be in Fiji but since it was during the COVID pandemic, we filmed it in Las Vegas.”

“While it couldn’t be in Fiji, the experience itself was pretty cool,” he added.

The digital age

On being a fashion model and social influencer in the digital age, Owen said, “Honestly, it’s cool. I used to play professional baseball prior to this, so I never even thought about doing modeling.”

“So, I played baseball and then, I moved into modeling. I signed with an agency, and the rest is history,” he said.  “The digital age may be a challenge but it’s also fun. It changes so quickly and you need to stay on top of trends, and on top of things.”

“I enjoy the digital age because your life can change instantaneously,” he added.

Future plans

Regarding his future plans, he shared, “I want to start getting on the TikTok streaming trend. That would be cool, and I am also getting into the vertical drama space. I am hoping to get to do some vertical dramas in the near future.”

“Of course, I will stick with modeling, but I would also like to do some horizontal films and TV shows, so that’s what the horizon looks like,” he added.

Career-defining moments

Owen noted that a career-defining moment was when he got out of college baseball, and when my name didn’t get called in the draft. “I never got the shot, and I never got the opportunity,” he said. “I’ve been playing baseball since I was four years old so that was always a dream of mine.”

“So, for that dream to not happen, it just ripped my heart out. That was the first time in my life where I really delt with adversity and disappointment. I had felt like my identity was gone,” he noted.

“That was a career-defining moments since it really helped me move into the space that I am in now.  This helped me because this space is similar in the sense that it’s hard. There are a lot of rejections, but when you get that one ‘yes,’ it makes it so worth it,” he acknowledged.

“So, that was a career-defining moment for me because it allowed me to let go of baseball, and while that chapter closed, I was able to pick myself up and try something else,” he added.

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Owen revealed, “Tactical.” “I’m taking aim at certain things and I’m going all in,” he said.

Superpower of choice

If Owen were to have any superpower, it would be “teleportation.” “I think it would be really cool to just teleport anywhere in the world,” he admitted.

Working with Ricardo Guerrero

Owen had positive words about working with Ricardo Guerrero, the director of Pretty Management. “I love Ricardo; he is awesome, and has helped propel my career so much,” Owen exclaimed.

Success

Regarding his definition of success, Owen said, “If you asked me this a few years ago, I would equate success to money and materialistic things. The more I think about it, success is happiness.”

“If you can find happiness in life, then I think that’s success,” he said. “You unlock the key to life because it’s all about contentment. That is something that is so rare these days because so many people are unhappy.”

“So, I would say success is happiness. Just pure happiness is success in life,” he reiterated.

Message for his fans

“Thank you so much for the support. I try to engage with every single person because I’m very personable. I wouldn’t be where I am without the fans. So, a special thanks to everyone who has followed me and supported me.”
