Acclaimed actor, musician, and director Finn Wolfhard drops his highly anticipated new single “I’ll Let You Finish,” and announces his forthcoming album Fire From The Hip set for release on July 10. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
Finn Wolfhard is a multi-hyphenate actor, musician, and director whose work spans film, television, and music. After first establishing himself as the frontman of several indie music projects, he launched his solo career with his debut album Happy Birthday in 2025. Wolfhard continues to evolve his sound and identity as a solo artist with his second album, Fire From The Hip.
Marking an exciting new chapter in his musical evolution, he expands on the raw indie rock energy of his debut while pushing into broader, more dynamic territory.
This record follows last year’s critically acclaimed debut solo album from Finn Wolfhard, Happy Birthday, which has 56 million streams to date. After launching his official Spotify account in March 2025, he has quickly grown to more than 433,000 monthly listeners and over 515,000 followers. In 2025, he completed a sold-out U.S. tour and closed out the year with his first sold-out solo London headline show at Electric Brixton. 2026 began with Wolfhard hosting Saturday Night Live and his rising presence has already landed him on the lineups for major festivals including Lollapalooza and Osheaga.
Where his debut felt like an opening statement, the new record plays more like an evolution which is built around the energy of collaboration and the nostalgia woven throughout Wolfhard’s songwriting. As a young person raised in a time when pop culture dominated the media, Wolfhard channels that perspective into his writing, exploring themes of reflection, cultural memory, and humor.
As Wolfhard puts it, “I grew up in such an incredible time for pop culture, of course my music is influenced by these events I lived through.”
Fire From The Hip represents a “hi-fi” evolution for Wolfhard, moving from the raw, tape-like aesthetic of Happy Birthday to a broader, more cinematic sound. If the last album was shot on 16mm film, this one would be on 35mm. Inspired by pivotal rock albums like Exile on Main Street and Beggars Banquet, Wolfhard is leaning into a more expansive and collaborative sound. The new album was recorded in February 2026 at Pachyderm Studios, engineered by Andrew Humphrey, with album art created by Wolfhard alongside Grant Prettyman of Belhum, Hudson McNeese, Louis Nicely, and Cadien Lake James.
“I’ll never forget recording this album. It was such a special experience being surrounded by some of my closest friends, whose support meant a lot to me. They brought so many incredible ideas to the table and their creativity helped shape the record into what it is” Wolfhard says.
For Wolfhard, each release serves as a snapshot, capturing who he is at a specific moment in time. Fire From The Hip doesn’t just follow Happy Birthday, but instead heightens it and presents an artist who is still evolving, questioning, and carving out his own distinct place in the music space. “I’ll Let You Finish” arrives April 29, with Fire From The Hip to follow on July 10.
