Actor Jake Lively chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his latest vertical dramas “Kissing Lessons with my Basketball Star” on Vigloo and on ReelShort.

‘Kissing Lessons with My Basketball Star’

On starring in “Kissing Lessons with My Basketball Star,” he said, “Oh my gosh, it was so much fun. I mean, I wish it had gotten more love. I know it has been getting a decent amount of viewership on Vigloo, but it was just so much fun. It was the only time I’ve ever worked with a writer who also directed the project. So, our director had also written it, which was phenomenal because we got to really talk about the script and really dive into everything.”

“Every choice felt so intentional,” he admitted. “Even with that being said, she was very open to improv, which is something that I personally like to lean towards. I like to be spontaneous and organic.”

“A lot of good comes out in improv lines and improv actions. Our director was so on board with all that, and we were really able to live inside our characters and really make them our own, which was so much fun. My co-star Cassandra was great too,” he added.

‘You’ve Been Replaced, First Love’ on ReelShort

Lively also enjoyed being a part of “You’ve Been Replaced, First Love,” where he starred opposite Katherine Gibson and Armand Procacci.

“That was a lot of fun as well,” he admitted. “That was my third time I’ve worked with Armand Procacci. He and I have a lot of history together. We have a very established repertoire, which is so great. Working with Katherine Gibson was just absolutely phenomenal.”

“Our director was really open to improv and really open to letting us take the helm and take the scenes however we wanted to. So, that very much encouraged a grounded and real performance over these large high-stakes situations, which I thought was really phenomenal, like a nice breath of fresh air in the vertical space,” he elaborated.

“Both projects ‘Kissing Lessons with My Basketball Star’ and ‘You’ve Been Replaced, First Love’ were incredible,” he exclaimed.

Lively compliments actor John Palmer

Lively had great words about actor John Palmer. “John Palmer is phenomenal,” he exclaimed. “We have a new vertical coming out pretty soon, where he plays my father… it is going to be a lot of fun,” he teased.

“This is our second time working together. John is such a giving and talented actor. He has so much experience, and it really shows. He gave me some of his wisdom, which was really great to learn from,” Lively acknowledged.

“John is a wonderful guy, and a man who marches to the beat of his own drums. I really respect him as an actor. We got to talk about everything from music to the Beetlejuice bar in Hollywood,” he added.

Lively on Katelyn Rose

Lively also praised actress Katelyn Rose. “Katelyn is an absolute sweetheart; she has my heart. I love her because she gives everything in every single take whether she is on camera or not. She is a lot of fun to work with, and I hope to work with her again very soon,” he said.

Message for his fans

For his fans and supporters, Lively said, “I think you can find a lot of really sweet moments in both of these vertical dramas. I get to play my bread and butter, which is the sweeter character, the fun jock guy. There are lot of great moments. If the fans want something more dramatic, they should watch ‘You’ve Been Replaced, First Love’.”

“If they want something a bit more lighthearted, then ‘Kissing Lessons with My Basketball Star’ is the one for them. It was a beautiful, new age rom-com,” he concluded.
