Black Sabbath REUNION? Geezer Butler on future – ‘I was sad Bill Ward wasn’t at last show’

The iconic metal band played their last concert on February 4, 2017, back where it all began in their home city of Birmingham. But ever since The End tour concluded, fans have wondered if Black Sabbath will ever reunite once again. After all, original drummer Bill Ward wasn’t present at the final show and was replaced by Ozzy Osbourne’s solo touring drummer Tommy Clufetos.

Speaking exclusively with Express.co.uk, Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler admitted that the final concert in Birmingham was “bittersweet”.

The 71-year-old said: “It was great to stop at the top.

“But sad that I was saying goodbye to 49 years of Sabbath.

“Also, I was sad that original drummer, Bill Ward, wasn’t involved.”

When Express.co.uk spoke to Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi in 2017, he was at least open to another Black Sabbath reunion.

He said: “Who knows. We might at some point do one-off shows. There’s nothing planned at all.”

The 72-year-old also mentioned how it was a little disappointing that they didn’t get a chance to make that 20th studio album, so could that be on the cards even though touring is over?

Tony added: “I don’t know. Nobody’s talked about it. I think everybody wants to do their own thing at the moment.”

Tony said: “Ozzy’s certainly going to be out touring with his own band until god knows when.

“If anything, it’s not going to be in the near future.”
