Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Warzone update patch notes: HUGE week in store on PS4, Xbox

Modern Warfare and Warzone publisher Activision has outlined its plans for this week’s big game update.

And it looks like it’s going to be a busy week for Call of Duty fans, as the game gets a double XP weekend.

Of course, this week’s Call of Duty update begins with a selection of brand new playlists for fans to experiment with on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

“A double dose of objective fun is available in the Deathmatch Domination + Drop Zone mosh pit,” reads an Activision post.

“In Deathmatch Domination, earn points for capturing objective and eliminating enemy players so OBJ and slayers can earn score.

“In Drop Zone, hold the objective to receive the gift of Care Packages and a flurry of Killstreaks that keeps the match interesting. All Care Packages are up for grabs, it just takes longer to capture enemy packages, but good things are worth the wait.”

Fans of Gunfight will also be pleased to hear that 3v3 Snipers makes a return in Modern Warfare as part of this week’s update.

As Activision points out, knowledge of each map is essential when playing 3v3 Snipers against other teams.

“Get with your squad and battle in Gunfight 3v3 Snipers,” Activision explains. “Map knowledge is key to success in this sniper shoot-out as is teammate communication.

“Make callouts and watch the flag during Overtime. Pro-tip: Consider closing the distance and performing a Finishing Move while the enemy reloads for an epic Killcam.”

Needless to say, Call of Duty fans will want to check out the in-game store, as Activision releases the ‘Beyond the Pale’ and ‘Notice Me: IV’ bundles.

The ‘Beyond the Pale’ bundle contains the ‘Dreadwood’ skin for Ghost, as well as two Legendary blueprints, a watch, calling card, emblem, spray, quip, weapon charm, and gesture.

As for Call of Duty’s popular Battle Royale spinoff, Activision is getting ready to launch Warzone Mini Royale Trios as part of this week’s update.

Available for the weekend only, Warzone Mini Royale Trios is described as a “short, sweet, and intense variant” of the regular Battle Royale mode.

“Mini Royale likens the experience to the first and final minutes of a standard Battle Royale match,” Activision adds.

Mini Royale will be joined by Battle Royale Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads and Plunder Quads.

But perhaps most exciting of all is that Activision is holding a Double XP event for the duration of the weekend.

Ideal if you’re struggling to level up your Battle Pass, players can get double XP, double weapon XP and double Battle Pass progression from September 25 until September 28.
