UPDATE: Final Fantasy XIV Server maintenance for the launch of Endwalker early access starts at 9am GMT on Decembr 2 and will end at the same time on December 3 with the release of the new expansion.

More news on server congestion and possible gameplay issues this week can be found below for gamers across PC and PlayStation platforms.

ORIGINAL: Square Enix has a busy week ahead as they prepare to launch FFXIV Endwalker into early access before the full server launch later in December. The good news is that Final Fantasy fans have already been informed about the upcoming server maintenance and how long the game will be offline.

The bad news is that Square Enix is also predicting trouble ahead for returning Final Fantasy XIV gamers, so things could run less smoothly than expected. And that’s not just during the server maintenance and lengthy downtime being planned, but also during FFXIV Endwalker early access and the full release date.

It means that there could be a busy and frustrating week ahead for those hoping to delve into the exciting new content planned for the hugely popular MMO. As you might expect, many of these problems will be down to lots of gamers trying to jump back into the game at around the same time.

Such a jump in traffic is likely to cause congestion, with Square Enix warning this week: “Since the launch of a new expansion is when a large number of players will be playing for extended periods of time, we are expecting far more simultaneous logins compared to usual.

“Furthermore, following a dramatic increase in the player base in all regions since this summer, we are currently experiencing record numbers of active users, and therefore are expecting a number of logins that is yet to be seen since the launch of FFXIV.

“In preparation for these predictions, we optimized our servers ahead of the expansion’s launch in order to increase login caps.

“On the other hand, due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductors we have previously mentioned, we were unable to add new Worlds before the release of Endwalker. The addition of new Worlds will still be considered as we procure the necessary server machines.

“As such, there is a high likelihood of congestion that will result in Worlds reaching maximum login capacity and lengthy wait times when logging in. We would like to apologize for making this sort of announcement at a time when many of you are looking forward to the expansion, as well as for inconveniences that may be caused by congestion.”

The lack of New Worlds is a huge blow for those hoping to jump in without major issues being a possibility, but gamers are pretty well-versed when it comes to server instability during big launches.

Square Enix has also released a plan for how long servers will be down and when to expect Endwalker access to begin.

FFXIV ENDWALKER EARLY ACCESS START TIME

The FFXIV Endwalker early access release date has been set for 9am GMT on Friday, December 3, 2021.

As noted above, lengthy maintenance is also expected to last 24-hours before the early access period begins.

The Final Fantasy 14 server downtime is scheduled to start at 9am GMT on December 2 and end with the launch of Endwalker early access on December 3.

During this time, Final Fantasy 14 will not be playable and different parts of the game and additional websites will drop during maintenance.

This includes services tied to Mog Station and the game Companion App, so there will be a lengthy blackout concerning most of the game this week.

For gamers in North America, early access for Endwalker starts at 1am PDT on December 3, the same date as in Europe.

Thu, 02 Dec 2021 00:30:00 +0000 Gary Jones

The new Battlefield 2042 update might be the biggest patch we’ve ever come across. Battlefield 2042 update #3 has a December 2 release date on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. According to a recent tweet by Electronic Arts, the update will be available to download at 8am GMT. Best of all – and perhaps surprising given the size of the update – the new patch doesn’t require any server downtime. Of course, there’s a chance this could change once the update goes live, and things potentially go wrong. Stay tuned to Express Online for any further updates regarding downtime.

As for the update itself, the new Battlefield 2042 patch is the game’s biggest yet. The new update makes over 150 gameplay improvements across the entire roster of maps.

”Throughout several areas of the game we’ve introduced improvements to make your experience while interacting within maps feel smoother,” EA explains.

”This includes over 150 individual fixes, small changes, and improvements across all of our Maps where we noticed they were detracting from gameplay, such as spawning, visual glitching or collision issues.

”Audio, rendering and interaction improvements and fixes for weapons, vehicles and Specialists are also included.”

Even better, however, is the addition of Weekly Missions, which come with their own cosmetic rewards. Battlefield Portal adds new game mode layouts for Rush, while additional templates are available in Builder.

You can see a selection of the Battlefield 2042 update #3 patch notes below…

<div class=”box two-related-articles clear”>

Related articles

Battlefield 2042 Update 0.3.0 patch notes…

Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

General

• The Recent Players screen now include everyone from previous matches to allow for easier user reporting

• Made improvements to the “Interaction” system by switching the default “INTERACT” text on multiple interactions to reflect the action you are about to do, i.e. “OPEN CONTAINER”, “CALL ELEVATOR”

• Resolved Kaleidoscope server room lighting issue

• Resolved an issue related to the velocity / trajectory while spawning in jets

• Improved helicopter animation in level fly-bys during insertion

• Improvements to address an issue where players killed in vehicles would fall beneath level geometry

• Improvements to streaming assets in deploy screen presentation

• Player no longer gets stuck in a zipline/rope after exiting a vehicle after entering it too close to a zipline or rope

• Exiting an open seat early in the enter animation no longer causes your aim pitch to lock up

• Correct field of view is applied immediately following insertion sequences

User Interface

• Improved the Collection screens, making them easier to use and clear as to what you’re interacting with

• Improved the ways in which you’re able to manage your attachments via the Collection screen to reduce the number of interactions you need to have when building your loadouts

• Enhancements to our Player Card screen and End of Round (EOR) to provide additional polish

• Added new markers to make your newly unlocked items easier to find

• Improved screen transitions when entering and returning to the Main Menu

• Improved Report a Player flows, specifically around toxicity and cheating reports

• The in-game scoreboard now properly scales to match screen safe-zone settings

• Fixed instances where the scroll function didn’t work in the Options screens

• Implemented Focus restoration for screens so the focused button is remembered when re-entering a screen

• Fixed visual effects remain on screen during End of Round

<div class=”p402_hide htmlappend”>
<iframe width=”674″ height=”379″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/ASzOzrB-a9E” title=”YouTube video player” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; I loved to get out of the house and go on location and be involved with something else rather than the familial stuff. I was out of the house as much as I could possibly be.”

Even when home, Coburn could be woefully neglectful.

<div class=”photo changeSpace”>
<picture> <img class=”lazy” src=”https://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/36/590x/secondary/James-Coburn-and-family-3788435.jpg?r=1638395121836″ alt=”James Coburn and family” title=”James Coburn and family” width=”590″ height=”350″></picture>
Coburn – with first wife Beverly and children Jimmy and Lisa – admitted he was a ‘terrible parent’. (Image: ullstein bild/ullstein bild via Getty Images)

One afternoon, while he was meant to be watching five-year-old Jimmy play in the pool, his wife Beverly found the actor “snoozing on a lounger and Jimmy’s tiny body inert at the bottom of the pool”, says Robyn. Miraculously, the actor managed to rescue and revive his son.

Jimmy later lamented that Coburn’s two pet woolly monkeys “received the lion’s share of his parents’ limited attention,” says Robyn.

Coburn was an equally neglectful husband, having serial affairs, but Beverly turned a blind eye to his adultery.

According to Robyn: “She didn’t want to know what happened when he was alone on location, provided he was discreet and didn’t involve his family. It’s ironic that for a spiritually advanced man he had so little empathy for his wife’s suffering.”

Coburn’s home became “infamous,” she says. “There were drugs, and there were girls… It was a party house.”

But after 19 years of marriage, Coburn left Beverly in 1979, igniting a bitter divorce battle. “She took him to the cleaners,” says Robyn. Coburn gave up their house and art, Rolls Royce and Mercedes, half his movie royalties, corporate assets, property, a motel, a Cessna aircraft and more.

<div class=”photo changeSpace”>
<picture> <img class=”lazy” src=”https://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/36/590x/secondary/James-Coburn-at-home-3788444.jpg?r=1638395121928″ alt=”James Coburn at home” title=”James Coburn at home” width=”590″ height=”350″></picture>
Coburn at home in California in 1991. (Image: Paul Harris/Getty Images)

”I just said: ‘Take it! That was the rage I couldn’t let go. It took me a long time to get over that.”

He tried experimental treatments and homeopathic remedies, as well as marijuana and cocaine for pain relief.

”I knew cocaine was probably terrible, but it made me feel good while I was doing it,” he said.

Unlike many Hollywood memoirs, Coburn has only fond memories of his celebrity friends. He recalled taking acting classes alongside James Dean – “Dean would just blow your mind” – and getting stoned onset with Steve McQueen: “The first thing he asked me was, ‘Do you want to smoke a joint?’ I said, ‘Sure, why not?'” Cary Grant was “a groovy guy,” while Audrey Hepburn “was fantastic, and we had a lot of fun” filming Charade.

<div class=”p402_hide htmlappend” readability=”4.8837209302326″>

What is happening where you live? But after Eric Stoltz was fired as Marty McFly in new comedy Back to the Future, he was invited to juggle both the time travelling teen and sitcom at the same time. It’s amazing — more people, of all ages, approach me now about that movie than ever before. I’m not sure I understood why.

“Then I came across it on TV last Christmas. And I thought I was really good in it, better than I thought I’d been. More important, I got the spirit of the movie.

“I understood it was just a big giggle and that we all need… to take credit for what we’ve done and the lives we’ve touched and to occasionally step back a bit and appreciate that much of life has been great and that there’s a lot more to live.”

Fox also shared how boxing legend Muhammad Ali has helped him have a positive view of life despite the disease.

He said: “I used to avoid watching myself on the TV shows I did when I was much younger, because I was healthier then and showed no signs of Parkinson’s. But I wondered about Ali, whom I had become friendly with. He’d been such a beautiful athlete before Parkinson’s.

“So, after he died, I asked his wife, Lonnie, if he ever watched recordings of his fights. ‘He watched for hours,’ she said. ‘He loved it!’ And I thought, Yeah, I should love it, too. It’s a legacy, some graffiti that leaves a message of positivity.”

When asked what he hoped his legacy would be, Fox shared how he was surprised to find he’d influenced future music stars.

DON’T MISS
<a data-link-tracking=”InArticle|Link” href=”https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/1526487/Next-James-Bond-auditions-Daniel-Craig-No-Time-To-Die” data-name=”Next Bond auditions ‘wide open’ – MGM on 007 future after Daniel Craig” target=”_blank”>Next Bond auditions ‘wide open’ – MGM on 007 future after Daniel Craig [NEXT BOND]
<a data-link-tracking=”InArticle|Link” href=”https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/1528863/Spider-Man-4-Tom-Holland-Sony-Amy-Pascal-Tom-Hardy-Venom” data-name=”Spider-Man: New trilogy in the works – Sony speak on Tom Hardy Venom” target=”_blank”>Spider-Man: New trilogy in the works – Sony speak on Tom Hardy Venom [SPIDER-MAN]
<a data-link-tracking=”InArticle|Link” href=”https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/theatre/1510079/Back-to-the-Future-Day-Huey-Lewis-Bob-Gale-Back-to-the-Future-the-musical” data-name=”Back to the Future Day: Huey Lewis’ emotional moment at musical WATCH” target=”_blank”>Back to the Future Day: Huey Lewis’ emotional moment at musical WATCH [BACK TO THE FUTURE]

The 60-year-old said: “This is kind of a vanity thing — a lot of really great guitarists have come up to me over the years and said they picked up the guitar because of the Johnny B Goode scene in Back to the Future. If I did anything in this life, I got John Mayer to pick up the guitar!”

Earlier this year, the star had a chance to see a recording of Back to the Future the Musical, which has opened in London’s West End.

He said in a statement: “I’m buzzing from what is a truly great show. It captures the entire BTTF Experience through sensational casting, effective story edits, great Techwork & Special FX. The actors were impeccable, with an energy and passion commensurate with us originals.

“And the music is freaking great, from the Huey Lewis songs to the Silvestri score and all the new songs and set pieces. It really is a small miracle.
