Doctor Strange 2: Star shares disappointing Deadpool update after new cameo evidence

When it comes to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, few films can compare to the tidal wave of speculation and conjecture. Since the second trailer recently dropped, audiences have been amazed by the return of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, though he might not be the same hero as before. One of the biggest rumours came outside of the trailer, in the movie’s newest poster. Filled to the brim with little details and characters, some have poured over the image with a magnifying glass to find more secrets. What was found sent the internet into a craze, but hopes have been dashed following a new interview.

One of Marvel’s most popular characters is the merc with a mouth – Deadpool. He has been absent from screens since the release of his second film in 2018, but that could be about to change.

Since Disney’s buyout of Fox in 2019, Deadpool’s future has been uncertain. Despite a third movie being confirmed shortly after the release of the second, what form it’ll take is another question.

Speaking to Variety, Ryan Reynolds said Deadpool 3 is “coming along,” but hasn’t provided any further details on its status. Whether Disney keeps the hard R-rating or decides to take the more family friend approach as seen in the animated show Ultimate Spider-Man remains to be seen.

However, new evidence suggests audiences will be seeing him in Doctor Strange 2, with the foul-mouthed merc being spotted in the poster.

Despite being hard to make out, there is an undeniable outline of the X-Men outsider in a shard of glass near the top left of the new poster. It is unconfirmed by Disney whether this is really him, but fans online are convinced it is.

Reynolds was asked if he really is in the movie but his answer abruptly dashed hopes of his inclusion.

The 45-year-old star said: “I’m really not supposed – I guess, I’m really not supposed to say anything about that. But, I’m really not in the movie.” He then added: “I could be an unreliable narrator but I promise you I’m not in the movie.” (via Variety)

Fans online have their own opinion of his comments.

Reacting to the video interview, @noreelshani said: “Ryan Reynolds is a bad liar just look at his face.” @pllfan7809 added: “It’s actually good that he’s a bad liar because then we know that he’s actually in the movie.”

@LittleLlama replied: “Agreed. And his wording: “I’m not supposed to say anything about that, I’m really not in the movie” … @vancityreynolds if you are not in the movie then you wouldn’t be mandated not to say anything about it. We love you, Ryan. #MCU #MultiverseOfMadness.”

It comes just as a new Doctor Strange 2 leak has hit the internet, adding more weight behind the Deadpool rumours.

The Twitter page @Moth_Culture shared a supposed leaked image of Deadpool in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. As this is an unsubstantiated rumour the following should be taken with a grain of salt.

The account has shared an image of what looks like Deadpool trapped inside a giant glass box. Reminiscent of the storage containers in Knowhere or Loki’s Prison in Avengers Assemble, it could be a way for Strange to hold variants as seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The image was shared with the caption: “Leaked unfinished VFX image of what appears to be Deadpool, In high-tech containment. #MultiverseOfMadness.”

There have been so many rumours about the film that fans are divided on the new evidence. The film is less than three months away, premiering on May 6, so audiences will find out what is real then.
