Paul likened the new franchise to the Lord of the Rings series – a collection of films which famously cost hundreds of millions to make, and the better part of two years to film.
Villeneuve’s adaptation of Herbert’s epic story has already been split into two films, with the second half of the narrative yet to receive a release date.
Paul explained this is a huge jumping off point for a new franchise, and it needs to be executed correctly.
