Elvis Presley funeral: One of The King’s pallbearers responds to THAT heavy casket rumour

On August 18, 1977, Elvis Presley’s funeral took place two days after his death at Graceland. Over the years there have been conspiracy theories that the King is still alive, with some pointing out how heavy Elvis’ casket was. But now one of the Memphis Mafia pallbearers have spoken out on the rumour that his coffin weighed way too much.

MJ’s siblings carried the gold-plated casket into the service and after it finished, Lisa Marie ended up sticking around after most people had left.

In a 2010 interview with Oprah, Lisa Marie said how she was the last one standing over Jackson’s casket at the funeral.

Oprah asked: “As you stood over his casket, were you able to make peace?”

After pausing, Lisa Marie replied: “No, I don’t think I could make peace then. It was more like I wanted to apologise for not being around.”

Reflecting on his untimely death, Lisa Marie said: “Had I just said, ‘How are you?’

“Can I try to make a phone call? I really did regret that I didn’t.”

Jackson’s funeral cost $1 million, which included $590,000 for his crypt in Forest Lawn’s Great Mausoleum.

The King of Pop’s remains are resting in the Holy Terrace section of the structure.
