Actor and model Ezra Moreland chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about being a part of the 2026 New York Film & Entertainment Soccer Tournament (NYFEST), which was held at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 5.

The proceeds from this soccer tournament benefit youth development organizations. “I feel there have been so many entities along the way in my journey that have supported and helped me, and this is an event that gives back to others, so I am always down to be a part of something like this. I am always the first to put my hand up,” Moreland acknowledged.

“I am excited that it is a profitable and charitable event for the youth of New York and the surrounding states, so I just loved being a part of something like this,” he said.

Each spring, dozens of teams and hundreds of players from all walks of the media and creative business, from New York City and all points internationally, take the pitch at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 5 for a full day of spirited five-a-side competition—with one team in each of three divisions walking away with the trophy. In the media capital of the world and a rising global hub for the sport, NYFEST year after year vibrantly illustrates the deep connection between soccer and the creative community.

“It was great being a part of THE event of the day,” Moreland exclaimed. “Honestly, it is definitely a proud moment but also a nerve-wrecking moment because I am playing in the All-Star match today, and I haven’t played soccer for a couple of years.”

“So, I am going to get out there, warm up, and hopefully, it will all come back to me,” he noted. “I hope this event today brings some sweat, some laughs, and some fun… it’s Saturday, we are bringing people together, and we are making some new friends too.”

Moreland was the inaugural winner of the reality competition “Finding Mr. Christmas” on Hallmark.

Regarding his overall experience at his first-ever NYFEST, Moreland reflected, “It was so great getting to be a part of an event that is giving back to the community! We lost the match but I gained some good friends… with a bit of sunburn and some very priceless memories.”
