Christopher Biggins attempted to defend Joe Biden‘s performance compared to Donald Trump but ultimately delivered a blistering dig at the US President. The actor was discussing Mr Biden’s chances at beating Mr Trump once again after the former US leader dropped yet another hint about him re-running. Speaking to GB News, Mr Biggins said: “Who cares? He’s an idiot, I don’t want him running America.”

The comments had host Eamonn Holmes question his stance, suggesting Biden also had significant issues leading his country.

Mr Holmes said: “He’s an idiot, we all thought he was an idiot but…Joe Biden?”

To which Mr Biggins said: “When he’s awake, I think he’s quite good.”

Mr Biden has been facing harsh criticism in recent months, especially over his performance at press conferences.

GB News panellist Emily Carver said: “Joe Biden can’t string a sentence together at the moment. I do feel for him in his press conferences.”

President Biden has been suffering from a stutter since childhood, an impediment that has repeatedly caused him some issues when delivering speeches.

But his refusal to take questions from the press repeatedly as well as some blunders at press conferences have left his detractors calling for the US leader to submit himself to a health check to test his mental state.

President Biden underwent a thorough examination in November, the first since taking office last year, and he was found to be “fit for duty.”

Mr Biden has seen his popularity collapse in recent weeks, with the President currently performing at 42.4 percent one year in.

The numbers put him barely three points ahead of his predecessor, who was on 39.5 percent at the same point in 2018.

The change marked a significant drop from Gallups’ findings in 2021, when President Biden’s support was polling at 56 percent among 12,000 survey participants from the Democratic Party.

The numbers have rung alarm bells for the President’s party as midterm elections loom this year, with Republicans and Democrats to fight a scattering of seats across the country.

Mr Biden currently holds a slim majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and losing either seat could prove dangerous for his agenda.

The President requires support from the whole of Congress to pass his laws and Republicans taking over halfway through a term has proved deadly for previous Democrat-sponsored legislation.

The US leader also faces the prospect of being challenged once again by Donald Trump for the White House.

While the former president has so far failed to confirm whether he will run once more in 2024, he has repeatedly hinted at the possibility and continued to maintain he won the 2020 election.
