Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes were joined by Gyles Brandreth and Henry Bonsu on Thursday’s This Morning as the panel debated the day’s headlines. During the discussion, Rochelle shared her frustration at Prince William being asked a question about his uncle Prince Andrew while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed their first joint engagement of 2022.

Rochelle introduced: “Let’s talk about the Duke and Duchess returning to duty.

“But it took a turn, they made their first appearance for the New Year yesterday at the Foundling Museum in London and Kate became patron so it was supposed to be a lovely day.”

Interjecting, Gyles said: “[William] has introduced a new phrase to the language, ‘Sorry, I can’t hear you.’

“I’ll be using this week in week out with my darling wife when she calls from the kitchen.”

“It’s part of the back and forth,” Henry continued. “What he could have said if he was thinking on his feet was, ‘Look there’s a legal process my uncle is innocent until proven guilty like anyone else so lets things play out.

“But saying, ‘I can’t hear you,’ fair enough I’d probably say the same myself.”

Rochelle added: “It’s panic, isn’t it? It was Kate’s day let her have her moment.”

This is not the first time a member of the Royal Family has been publicly asked about the Duke of York.

Prince Charles similarly remained silent when asked a question about his brother on January 14.

The Queen’s eldest son was confronted during his first public engagement of the year at Haddo Country Park in Aberdeenshire.

He stayed tight-lipped when asked: “Can I ask your view on your brother’s position?”

This comes after a judge ruled Virginia Giuffre’s civil case against Prince Andrew can proceed.

The suit alleges she was trafficked to the Duke of York by convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew has always vehemently denied all allegations.

This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays at 10am.
