Jeremy Craig chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing Michigan in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Mister USA pageant
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment. They believe in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
On competing for Mister USA, he remarked, “It is an immense honor to be recognized in this way! I have dedicated years of my life to striving for personal growth and self-improvement, and I am eager and thrilled to share my journey and the person I have become with the world.”
Representing Michigan
On representing his home state of Michigan, he said, I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to represent my home state. I was born and raised in Michigan, and my family has a deep history in the state. My grandparents grew up in Detroit, and we have resided in southeast Michigan ever since.”
“Additionally, my entire extended family and I all attended the University of Michigan. I have strong ties to this state, and it is the place that best represents me and my achievements,” he added.
Daily motivations
Every day I am motivated by the potential for growth and change. Life is merely a series of chain reactions, and I know that every day I will do something that can drastically affect my future. Because of that, I try to make the best decisions I can each day and be a better version of myself than I was yesterday.
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, he shared, “In the fall, I will be attending New York University, getting an MSE in Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship. Upon graduating, I plan to work for a company dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to modern problems— doing so using the greatest tools that billions of years of evolution has provided us with.”
Jeremy Craig on why he feels he deserves to win Mister USA
On why he feels he deserves to win the 2025 Mister USA crown, he responded, “I feel I deserve to win because I am confident, empathetic, intellectual, and driven. I know that I will be able to use this platform to change the world, and I will always strive to make it better.”
Best advice he has ever been given
He went on to share the best advice he has ever been given: “Confidence is not something you’re born with, or even something that is earned; it is taken for yourself.”
“No one else can provide it for you. The only way to be confident is to step outside of your comfort zone, and all that that does is expand your comfort zone each time until one day there are no situations in which you are uncomfortable,” he explained.
Success
On his definition of success, he said, “To me, something isn’t truly successful until it’s over. Success is the feeling of accomplishment that comes with completing a task. Sure, my life is filled with successful moments, but they all feel different. Hosting a fun party that people talk about for years is one type of success, while graduating college after years of hard work is another. And sitting in comfortable silence with a loved one admiring a summer sunset is a third, yet equally successful feeling.”
“As I progress through life, new accomplishments that I never dreamed of pursuing suddenly become attainable, and I know that I can’t make those a new success when they arrive. Thus, I can’t define my life as a whole as ‘successful’ because it’s only just beginning,” he added.
Message for fans and supporters
For his fans and supporters, he expressed, “I would like everyone to know that life really can take you in incredible and unexpected directions. Growing up as a nerdy kid, I never thought that I would end up here, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds. I would also love to thank all of my friends and family for shaping me into the man that I am today.”
“I hope everyone understands that there’s no single path to becoming an attractive, interesting, or confident person. Each individual is unique, and no one else can help you become your best self better than you can,” he concluded.
