Joe Germanotta, owner of Joanne Trattoria and Lady Gaga’s father, has an affinity for Michigan State University. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
In a post on social media, Germanotta stated, “Michigan State will always hold a meaningful place in my journey.
“A little over a week ago, I had the privilege of visiting the MSU Burgess Institute Venture Kitchen — a place where ideas turn into real businesses. Spending time with student founders who are testing, producing, and scaling their concepts reminded me why entrepreneurship is such a powerful force,” he elaborated.
“The energy in that room was special. These students aren’t just building products — they’re building confidence, community, and opportunity. I had the chance to hear about what they’re creating, the challenges they’re navigating, and the ambition driving them forward. That kind of hunger and curiosity is what keeps industries evolving,” he explained.
“Hospitality has given me so much over the years,” he admitted. “If I can share even a small part of what I’ve learned — the wins, the setbacks, and everything in between — and help shorten someone else’s learning curve, that’s time well spent.”
“Thank you to the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation for creating a space where young founders can experiment, collaborate, and grow. The future is in good hands. Go Green,” he concluded.
Most recently, Joe Germanotta graced the January 2026 cover of Hollywood Hills Magazine, and rightfully so. That full-length feature may be read by clicking here.
