Actors Joshua Duncan and Poppy Janisch star in the new Dramabox vertical drama “The Duke’s Wayward Wallflower.” #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.

The synopsis is: The synopsis is: A shy “country rose” blossoms into a dazzling star of the London Season and ultimately, becomes a Duchness.

Joshua Duncan and Poppy Janisch are the heart and soul of “The Duke’s Wayward Wallflower.” Their chemistry feels effortless from the very first episode, bringing warmth, tension, and plenty of swoon-worthy moments to this addictive vertical drama. It has elements of “Bridgerton,” which adds to its appeal.

Joshua Duncan delivers a charming and suave performance as the duke, balancing aristocratic restraint with just enough vulnerability to make the character genuinely engaging. He has a commanding screen presence, and his subtle expressions often say more than pages of dialogue could. With Joshua Duncan as the Duke, it feels like watching Rupert Friend in “The Young Victoria” meets Clive Owen in “Elizabeth: The Golden Age.”

Poppy Janisch is equally wonderful as the wallflower heroine. She brings charm, intelligence, and emotional authenticity to the role, making it easy to root for her throughout the story. Her performance keeps the character from feeling like a typical romance heroine and gives the series much of its emotional weight.

Together, Duncan and Janisch create a believable slow-burn romance that keeps viewers invested episode after episode. Their banter is entertaining, their emotional scenes land well, and their romantic moments have exactly the right amount of spark.

While some of the plot points are predictable and a few episodes feel rushed, the strength of the lead performances more than makes up for those shortcomings. If you’re a fan of historical romance, opposites-attract dynamics, and charismatic leads, “The Duke’s Wayward Wallflower” is well worth watching. Overall, it is a a charming, binge-worthy romance elevated by two standout performances. With Joshua Duncan, it is evident that a star is born. “The Duke’s Wayward Wallflower” garners four out of five stars.
