Anni Ankola, who repped California in the 2025 Mr. America Global competition, chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his experience in the pageant and his latest endeavors.

How was your experience in Mr. America Global?
Competing in Mr. America Global was truly an unforgettable experience. It was an honor to stand alongside distinguished gentlemen from across the country. As my first pageant, it was both a learning experience and an incredible opportunity to grow, and I had a great deal of fun throughout the journey.
How did it feel to represent California?
Representing California was a humbling honor. Being born and raised here, I carried a deep sense of pride and responsibility with me. California is known for its diversity and creativity, and I was proud to embody those values on stage.
What was it like working with Julio Tatis and Tony Smith?
Julio and Tony were incredibly supportive. Their passion and dedication to creating a pageant that empowers men is truly inspirational, and their leadership made the experience both meaningful and memorable.
How was the brotherhood among the contestants?
The brotherhood we built was remarkable. Although many of us met for the first time in Washington, D.C., we quickly formed a strong bond. The camaraderie and encouragement among us showed that even in competition, genuine support and respect can thrive.
What motivates you each day?
My greatest motivation comes from Spyra and the community we are building. In today’s world of transactional influence, authenticity and trust are more important than ever. Spyra’s mission to bring truth and transparency into beauty keeps me driven every single day.
How does it feel to be part of the digital age as an entrepreneur and tech expert?
It’s an exciting time to be an entrepreneur. The digital age offers access to information and the power to create real change. At the same time, it requires constant growth and adaptability. For me, that challenge is energizing — it means always learning and finding new ways to make a positive impact.
What do your future plans include?
I am preparing to represent the USA at the upcoming Mr. Friendship pageant in Thailand. Following that, I plan to travel to South Korea to meet with partner beauty brands and help introduce the latest innovations to the U.S. and beyond.
What would you like to say to your supporters?
I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me along the way. Your encouragement has given me the confidence to keep striving for more. I look forward to making you proud — in the next competition and in everything I pursue.
