Next James Bond: Tom Hardy 007 lead suffers Netflix upheaval

The ongoing race to become James Bond is heating up for an exclusive list of British actors. Daniel Craig‘s tenure as 007 came to a triumphant end in September with No Time To Die, but Bond bosses are now looking for someone else to don the tuxedo. Currently at the bottom of the list is a Game of Thrones star, whose Marvel appearance has given his chances a new life in the Bond odds.

Richard Madden recently played Ikaris in Eternals, spiking his popularity even further than it already was. And this blockbuster movie appearance has prompted Ladbrokes to award the star an incredible 10/1 on becoming Bond after Craig.

However, he is narrowly being beaten by two other British heartthrobs.

Madden is followed by Jamie Dornan and James Norton, both of whom are enjoying 8/1 on the Bond odds.

Dornan is best known for playing Christian Grey in the saucy 50 Shades of Grey series. And fans know he wants it, as he previously jokingly sent Q Radio Breakfast host Stephen Clements a comical message about desiring the role. It read: “Dear Stephen, I’m sorry it took me so long to respond – I’ve been running around the world trying to convince people I’m James Bond. It would be good to meet up, have a pint and see what you’re all about – I just googled you there and it seems radio was a good shout.”

Norton, on the other hand, has said his previous roles “couldn’t be further from Bond”. Does this mean he doesn’t want the role?

Following these two stars is none other than Tom Hardy, the 007 fan-favourite.

Hardy has been at the top of the odds since 2020 after it was rumoured he had already been cast as the super spy. Of course, these reports were never confirmed, but his odds have since sparked joy over the actor becoming a real candidate. Unfortunately, Hardy has recently had a nightmare where the odds are concerned.

The actor recently dropped to 4/1 in the Bond odds from Ladbrokes, after being a frontrunner for some time.

Fans will likely never know how he feels about this, as he previously commented on these Bond rumours. He said: “You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it’s gone.”

And, for now, he is being beaten by a pair of Netflix stars.

Just ahead of Hardy is The Witcher star Henry Cavill. The Superman actor has recently seen a spike in popularity following the release of his fantasy series’ second season. Now, he has a staggering 3/1 on becoming Bond, placing him ahead of Hardy for the first time. Cavill might know more than he is letting on, however. He recently told Graham Norton: “I would definitely have a conversation [about becoming Bond]. From what I understand, there’s very very early conversations happening at the top at MGM, there’s no list yet.”

At the top of the leaderboard for Ladbrokes, however, is a Bridgerton hunk.

Regé-Jean Page leads the 007 charge with a staggering 11/4 on becoming Bond.

Alex Apati from the betting agent said: “No less than seven names are currently priced at 10/1 or shorter to replace Daniel Craig as Bond, although the latest notable flurry has been in huge favour of Henry Cavill, who now finds himself second in the 007 betting.”

While Page is the favourite, he has admitted he is “flattered” by the news, but confirmed there “isn’t any truth to it”.

James Bond No Time To Die is out now.
