The 2026 Critical Choice Awards nominees were announced, and one of the most glaring omissions in this year’s awards show is the fact that Ana Sophia Heger was left out for her powerful performance as Polly in “She Rides Shotgun.” #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.

Heger was a true lead performer and a force of nature in this high-octane action movie, who was able to carry this film on her shoulders for its entire duration opposite and equally impressvie Taron Egerton.

Her acting ability earned rave reviews from fans and critics alike praising the talent of this precocious young female star. It was a performance for the ages. She should have definitely been a nominee for “Best Young Actor/Actress.”

The synopsis is: Egerton portrays Nate, a former prisoner who was recently released and he is trying to protect his daughter, 11-year-old Polly (played by Ana Sophia Heger), while the two of them evade Nate’s “unrelenting enemies.”

Presently, Nate must guard Polly at all costs. She is shy and wary of her father, and is inevitably swept up in Nate’s dangerous plight as they flee to evade the corrupt sheriff and brutal leader of a gang who will stop at nothing to protect his criminal interests.

With scant resources and no one to trust, Nate and Polly form a bond forged under fire as he shows her how to fight and survive — and she teaches him what unconditional love truly means.
