PlayStation Now December 2021: Will new PS4 lineup rival PS Plus free games?

    476

We already know that the PS Now December lineup will include GTA 3: Definitive Edition and the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

But we don’t know what new indie game or other PS4 titles will be launching as part of the new PlayStation Now for this month.

There have been no high profile leaks this time around providing a hint, but the good news is that the news will be shared very soon.

Sony is expected to share its plans for PlayStation Now later today, complete with a full list of all the games that will be included.

The news is usually shared after 4pm GMT, and the new games will go live alongside the new PlayStation Plus titles on December 7.

It should make an interesting comparison, especially when looking at the free games available via PS Plus.

Last week, the tech giant announced that Godfall: Challenger Edition, Lego DC Super-Villains, and Mortal Shell would be available to download on PS4 and PS5.

Sony also revealed a massive twist in the version of Godfall you can download and play later this week.

The one crucial thing to note regarding Godfall: Challenger Edition – it doesn’t contain the same content as the base game.

Challenger Edition skips the main story, which includes a lot of character levelling, and drops players into the endgame experience.

A message from Godfall team provides more background on the changes, explaining: “Godfall: Challenger Edition allows new players to experience the game’s trio of endgame modes, minus the story content of the base game and Fire & Darkness expansions, and grants existing players new exciting features and rewards to enjoy.

“All players have the option to immediately jump to Player Level 50, which comes with a plethora of skill points and a spread of deadly weapons for your Valorplates.”

So will PS Now be able to compete with this combo of games? While GTA 3 and the Final Fantasy Remaster will please some fans, Sony will need to include something big to rival the choice between Lego DC, Mortal Shell and Godfall.

And that’s without mentioning the VR games that can be claimed in December as part of PlayStation Plus. As many fans will already know, the tech giant has been celebrating the fifth anniversary of the launch of the PlayStation VR.

To mark the occasion, Sony made it possible last month to download three top PSVR experiences on PS4 and PS5. But something that gamers might have missed is that this deal doesn’t end next week but continues until January 2022.

This means you still have plenty of time to download and play The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and Until You Fall. The games we know that are coming to PS Now this week include the following:

    GTA 3: DEFINITIVE EDITION

It all starts in Liberty City. With the revolutionary freedom to go anywhere and jack anyone, Grand Theft Auto III puts the center of the criminal underworld at your fingertips, if you have enough guts to take it.

    FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD REMASTER

First released on PS2, relive two of the greatest RPGs of their generation widely acclaimed for their moving stories, endearing characters, and memorable adventures. Final Fantasy X takes you to Spira―a world terrorized by the supernatural monster Sin. The temple of Yevon teaches that the monster is a physical manifestation of mankind’s sins, and following the temple’s teachings and atoning could purge it. Yuna, a young woman from Besaid, is a summoner who embarks on a pilgrimage to defeat this terror. Tidus, a young man from another world, joins her as her guardian.
