PlayStation Plus December update: Another PS4 and PS5 free trial confirmed

    550

Anyone looking to test out PS Plus in December has the perfect excuse this weekend on PS4 and PS5.

Sony has announced it will be running a free trial of the service that will make it possible to play multiplayer games at no extra charge.

This is a core part of Sony’s PlayStation Plus service – charging players a subscription to access paid-for multiplayer games.

The same rules do not apply for free titles, meaning you don’t need PlayStation Plus to enjoy Call of Duty Warzone, Fortnite, Apex Legends or Splitgate.

Access will begin at midnight on Saturday and will run around the same time on December 20.

However, the free trial only covers multiplayer access, meaning you won’t be able to jump in and download this month’s free games.

A message from Sony explains: “Dive into the online multiplayer modes of your favourite PS4 and PS5 games without a PlayStation Plus membership during our Online Multiplayer Weekend from Dec 18 @ 12:01AM to Dec 19 11:59PM (local time).”

If you own games like Call of Duty Vanguard, NBA 2K22 or GTA 5 and haven’t played online yet, this weekend will be the perfect time to do so.

This is likely to be the last major PlayStation Plus update in December as most companies will be shutting up shop before Christmas and New Year’s.

And for those wondering what free PS Plus games can be downloaded this month, you can find them listed below:
