Pokemon Go Kalos: Celebration event start time and region rewards

Niantic is in the middle of a major revamp but is still dedicating plenty of time to new Pokemon Go events.

The latest celebration is a regional affair, with Pokemon Go from Kalos getting the rewards treatment.

The development team has confirmed that the Pokemon Go Kalos event will be kicking off later today, telling gamers:

“Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Alola, and Galar have appeared in Pokémon GO. And starting today, Pokémon originally discovered in Kalos—the region where Mega Evolution was first discovered—will also be appearing in the world of Pokémon GO! To celebrate their arrival, you’ll be able to take part in a special event.”

According to Niantic, the Pokemon Go Kalos event will be kicking off at 10am local time, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

The good news is that everything will be happening at 10am local time, regardless of where you live in the world.

That means no late launch time for those Pokemon Go fans waiting in the UK.

The main rewards for the Pokemon Go Kalos event have also been confirmed, and they are mostly centred around the new Kalos Pokemon.

Here’s a rundown of what we know will be available from December 2, until Tuesday, December 8, 2020:

Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Bunnelby, Fletchling, Litleo, and Noibat will be appearing more frequently in the wild! In addition, Klefki will be appearing in the wild only in France. These Pokémon will be appearing in the wild after the event ends.

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs! They’ll continue to hatch from Eggs after the event concludes.

Bunnelby, Fletchling, and Litleo will be hatching from 2 km Eggs.

Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie will be hatching from 5 km Eggs.

Espurr and Noibat will be hatching from 10 km Eggs.

Litleo and Espurr will be appearing in one-star raids.

Enjoy event-exclusive Field Research and Timed Research tasks that lead to encounters with Pokémon such as Bunnelby and Fletchling as well as reward Venusaur Mega Energy, Charizard Mega Energy, and Blastoise Mega Energy.

Collecting Mega Energy

Mega Evolving a Pokémon requires Mega Energy, a resource that you can collect in multiple ways. You can earn Mega Energy by defeating a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in a Raid Battle or completing specific research tasks. You can also occasionally earn Mega Energy by walking with your Buddy Pokémon if you have previously Mega Evolved a Pokémon in your Buddy Pokémon’s Evolutionary line.

It’s important to note that Mega Energy can only be used for one specific Pokémon species. For example, the Mega Energy listed on Charizard’s summary page can only be used to Mega Evolve Charizard.

How to Mega Evolve your Pokémon

When you’ve collected enough Mega Energy, go to an eligible Pokémon’s summary page and tap “Mega Evolve.” While Mega Evolving a Pokémon for the first time costs a significant amount of Mega Energy, Mega Evolving that Pokémon subsequent times will cost less energy. However, note energy costs are only reduced for the specific Pokémon you Mega Evolve, not others of its species.

After they’re Mega-Evolved, Mega-Evolved Pokémon will stay in their Mega-Evolved form for 8 hours, after which they will return to their regular form.
