PS5 pre-order news following surprise PlayStation 5 feature leak

Fans are now waiting for a new stock update from retailers and Sony, with hopes for at least one more before the PS5 release date in November. In the UK, the most recent re-stocking at GAME, Amazon and Argos was burnt through in lightening fashion. Most sites came under pressure as gamers tried to secure their own PlayStation 5 pre order last week.

And now customers are being urged to check their emails on a regular basis.

ShopTo, for example, is currently in the process of informing customers whether they will receive their PS5 consoles at launch.

Even if you were unsuccessful in securing a console for the November 19 release date, ShopTo believes things could change before launch, and is encouraging fans to keep pre-orders open, telling them via email:

“We have received the allocation details from Sony and, unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to fulfil your pre-order on day one/release date,” reads an email sent to unsuccessful pre-order customers.

After requesting that customers keep their pre-orders open, ShopTo has informed customers about what may happen next.

“Sony may notify us of additional stock with extra allocation for day one and you have already reserved your place in the queue,” the email continues.

“Some customers may cancel their pre-orders and that may allow yours to be next in line.”

“Also we would like to know if you would be happy to swap your pre-order for a digital console, if they become available and as you are in the queue, you will have the priority (please let us know on our website Live chat/messenger contact channel),” the post adds.

Other retailer have warned of stock shortages and issues with pre-orders not being made available until 2021.

And this isn’t the only PS5 news that has been shared this week by gamers wanting to know what’s coming next.

Reports have appeared online that suggest the the source code of the PlayStation website makes references to new features coming to the console.

This includes an expansion of how many people can use party chat, as well as making it possible to talk between PS4 and PS5 consoles.

It should be noted that these new features have not been confirmed by Sony for the launch of the PS5 in November and these latest reports should be taken with a pinch of salt.

While further stock updates have not been give dates yet, Sony has confirmed that more chances to buy a PS5 will be made available before the November release date.

This was confirmed in the official apology message from Sony, who told fans earlier this month:

“Let’s be honest: PS5 preorders could have been a lot smoother. We truly apologize for that.

“Over the next few days, we will release more PS5 consoles for preorder – retailers will share more details. And more PS5s will be available through the end of the year.”
