Sammy Morningstar to star in the crime thriller drama “Detective Rose Thorne.” #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
From horror scream queen to fighting crime in Savannah’s underbelly, Sammy Morningstar is a force to be reckoned with.
Morningstar will play the “brilliant but damaged” Savannah Detective Rose Thorne, as she tracks a killer who leaves victims a calling card aimed directly at her.
Per the official character description: “Rose Thorne is a fiercely independent, action-driven Savannah homicide detective whose relentless determination and physical courage define her. She charges into danger without hesitation, prioritizes saving lives over protocol or politics, and meets threats with sharp instincts, martial skill, and a stubborn refusal to quit—even when it costs her. Beneath the hard exterior lies a woman marked by deep emotional scars: unresolved grief over a mother she never knew, betrayal and distance from her father, and the lingering weight of past failures that fuel both her guilt and her drive. She is loyal to the bone with her partners, capable of dry humor and sharp banter, yet struggles to let people fully in. Rose channels pain into protection, carrying the names of the lost (literally, in ink) while slowly learning that strength also means allowing herself to heal, trust, and step back when the fight becomes personal.”
It is based on the book series “Detective Rose Thorne” by Dawn Kirby and R. Kyle Hannah and published by Jumpmaster Press.
In addition to “Detective Rose Thorne,” Morningstar’s credits also include “Chicago P.D.,” “The Devil’s Dancers,” “The Red Huntress,” and “The Meathook Massacre.”
Rose Thorne will be on the case soon, the pilot begins shooting in October of this year in Savannah, Georgia.
