But what is most exciting about the ZTE hub is that it’s powered by the Qualcomm 5G SDX55M processor. This means it can support download speeds of up to 3.8Gbps. That’s ludicrously fast. For comparison, the fastest home broadband connection available from BT is 900Mbps, while Virgin Media offers up to 1,130Mbps.
A connection of 3.8Gbps is more than 3x faster – download speeds of 3,800Mbps are roughly 54x faster than the average home broadband connection in the UK.
The only issue? Unfortunately, Three Mobile’s 5G network doesn’t currently offer support for 3.8Gbps – instead, it tops out at 1Gbps.
That’s still plenty fast. It means you’ll be able to enjoy download speeds as fast as fibre-optic connections from BT and Virgin Media without the need for any works in your street. As long as you live in an area with a solid 5G connection, you’ll be able to plug-in the ZTE Wi-Fi hub and benefit from the same speeds as areas with the latest infrastructure upgrades.
