What happened so far in Vikings series 6?

WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Vikings season 6, part 1

Bjorn Ironside and King Harald are injured

There are many epic and important plot moments to dissect from the Battle of Kattegat alone.

At the end of Vikings season, six, part one Prince Oleg (played by Danila Kozlovsky), Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) and the Rus Vikings appeared victorious at the Battle.

Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) was stabbed by his brother Ivar the Boneless on the beaches of Kattegat and Harald, King of Norway (Peter Franzén) appeared to be gravely injured.

Show creator Micheal Hirst has confirmed Bjorn and Harald are alive in episode 11 of Vikings but just how long they will live for remains unknown.

Fans will be waiting to find out if Bjorn will survive his injuries and will try to take back the Kattegat throne.

Speaking to TV Guide, he said: “Well, he’s not dead, is he? He’s very, very badly wounded.

“I can’t tell you too much but what I can tell you is the [midseason premiere] is an extraordinary episode and a number of things that you thought were true at the end of [midseason finale] proved not to be quite true.”

Ludwig, who plays Bjorn Ironside also confirmed his character will return for the second half of season six in “some way, shape or form”.

Ludwig said: “It certainly doesn’t look good for him. I’ll tell you that.”

He added: “Nobody would be expecting that [Bjorn to die], which is why I think it’s a genius move.

“It’s something that I had spoken to [creator Hirst] about in a lot of ways, and I said that I wanted Bjorn to go at the hands of somebody like Ivar.

“If it wasn’t Ivar, then it would have been by his own hand or something so tragic that the audience was just kind of floored by it.

“Because it’s so obvious for Bjorn to finally come up and achieve all this greatness and take his brother down and save the day, and it’s kind of what everybody secretly wants.

“And that’s kind of what I loved about the choice is that he goes — I’ll tell you this though.

“He doesn’t go without a fight. And whether or not he is still alive, you will see a version of Bjorn is some way, shape, or form.”

Gunnhild (Ragga Ragnars) is alone and in a three-way marriage

In part one of Vikings, Gunnhild experienced several losses which proved to be traumatic.

Not only did she lose her close friend Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), but her husband Bjorn also had an affair and she sadly had a miscarriage, losing her baby son.

To add to the heartbreak, Gunnhild was now part of a three-way marriage after Bjorn declared his love for Kattegat woman Ingrid (Lucy Martin).

Fans are curious to know what Gunnhild’s next move will be after Harald offered her the title of Queen of Norway if she left Bjorn.

With Harald potentially dead, will Gunnhild betray her husband and become Queen of Norway?

Alternatively, will Gunnhild fight against Ivar and Oleg to defend the crown of Kattegat on behalf of her husband?
