Young actress Ana Sophia Heger is Oscar-worthy in “She Rides Shotgun” film opposite Taron Egerton. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.
Heger starred opposite Taron Egerton (“Rocketman”) in “She Rides Shotgun,” which premiered in theaters on August 1st via Lionsgate. That pulse-pounding action thriller was directed by BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Nick Rowland.
Egerton portrays Nate, a former prisoner who was recently released and he is trying to protect his daughter, 11-year-old Polly (played by Ana Sophia Heger), while the two of them evade Nate’s “unrelenting enemies.”
Presently, Nate must guard Polly at all costs. She is shy and wary of her father, and is inevitably swept up in Nate’s dangerous plight as they flee to evade the corrupt sheriff and brutal leader of a gang who will stop at nothing to protect his criminal interests.
Heger was precocious, appealing and captivating that the role of Polly. She embodied this character and imbued the role like no other. It was certainly one of the best breakout performances of 2025, and Heger deserves to be recognized as a “Best Actress” nominee at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, Gotham Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Oscars, among countless other critics and fan choice awards.
Her performance is too huge to be ignored, and if it is… it would be one of the most glaring and puzzling omissions of the year. Ana Sophia Heger was utterly fantastic!
Hopefully, this is a harbinger of more high-quality projects to come from Ana Sophia Heger in the future. It is evident that a shining star is born with her! She is the next Dakota Fanning in the entertainment industry.
