Songwriting goddess Diane Warren ought to win the “Best Original Song” Oscar for “Dear Me.” #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.
This marks her 17th career nomination for a competitive Academy Award in the “Best Original Song” category.
“Dear Me,” sung by Grammy award-winning pop artist Kesha, is featured in the documentary “Diane Warren: Relentless.”
This song is extra special to Warren because it is a love letter to her younger self. “I wanted her to know that no matter what she will have to go through she will get where she needs to be. I wrote this for her, but this is for you too. It will all get better soon, you’ll see ‘Dear Me’,” Diane Warren said.
It is certainly one of the most personal songs of her career, and it will move listeners on an emotional and spiritual level. It ought to be enjoyed for its beauty, rawness, honesty, and authenticity.
Once again, Diane Warren is facing stiff competition this year, but if Oscar voters vote with their hearts, they can easily score an upset, and finally give the songwriting queen the competitive Oscar that she is rightfully due! She most certainly deserves it for “Dear Me”!
