“Layover,” starring Nicole Mattox and Sam Myerson, is an engaging new vertical drama on Super Punchy Studios. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
This show recently had its New York premiere at the 2026 ALZA Festival.
This vivacious new comedy was directed by Super Punchy Studios founder Salvador Paskowitz. Halo Gracey and Kristin Monroe Paskowitz co-wrote the screenplay.
The synopsis: In Sin City, a love story of a different kind, of crossed wires, intrigue and danger, between a nervous risk manager and an unseen flight attendant unfolds. Mattox stars as Violet, while Myerson plays Brad.
This role is unlike Mattox anything has ever done before because it allows her to tap into her nerdy side.
It is filled with craziness, wild partying and tons of melodrama. Viewers will be drenched in a wide spectrum of raw emotions. Mattox’s affecting rapport with Myerson’s character allows for more resonance.
Aside from Mattox and Myerson, it stars Haley Lohrli, Molly Anderson, Seth Edeen, Jon Briddell, and Nicole Dione.
The twists and turns will keep the audience engaged throughout. It feels like watching “Closer” all over again where Nicole Mattox and Sam Myerson are our Natalie Portman and Clive Owen respectively.
Most importantly, this vertical show is a reminder that what happens in Sin City stays there.
Seth Edeen makes a cameo and he showcases subtle and natural acting work as the character Bouchard. It is neat to watch his prowess as an actor grow from project to project.
The Verdict
Overall, “Layover” is a riveting new vertical drama, created and directed by Salvador Paskowitz, which is worth checking out. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. Hopefully, this is a harbinger of more great things to come from Super Punchy Studios in the future. Well done.
