Ethan Vaughan and Maia Sky chat with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about ‘Wuthering Heights,” which had its New York premiere at the ALZA Festival. This version is set on an American ranch.
The synopsis is: On a present-day American ranch, Cathy and Heathcliff, the orphan her father raised as his own, share a love that borders on obsession—until their father dies and her vengeful brother Hindley returns to tear them apart.
It stars Jean Evans, Ethan Vaughan, Gabriel Quintella, Maia Sky, and Dante Ayala.
Ethan Vaughan
Vaughan plays the role of Heathcliff Earnshaw in “Wuthering Heights.”
On being at the ALZA Festival, Vaughan remarked, “It feels amazing to be here! Honestly, it is such an honor.”
On starring in “Wuthering Heights,” he stated, “That was also such an honor! I had so much material to pull from. These are legendary characters, a legendary story, and a legendary original author.”
“It was a lot of fun to shoot,” he noted. “What I liked most about my character is that he has contradictions, and he was a very confused person. Honestly, that was very fun to play.”
On working with Maia Sky as Bella, he said, “It was great working with Maia.”
On the lessons learned from the screenplay, Vaughan said, “It taught me that I am myself maybe a little more quick than I realized.”
For his fans, Vaughan said, “Thank you for being a fan of mine. Thank you so much for watching my content and for being here. I hope they get enjoyment out of ‘Wuthering Heights’.”
Maia Sky
On being at the ALZA Festival, Sky exclaimed, “I am so excited. This is amazing. Premiering in an AMC theater in New York is like a dream come true. So, I’m over the moon.”
“I play Bella in ‘Wuthering Heights.’ I loved how she was so sweet and she was so selfless. Did so many things for other people and put herself behind them,” she said.
On the lessons learned from the screenplay, she said, “It taught me to be softer and to connect with my quieter side. My character is very reserved and I feel like I’m the total opposite. I’m a bubbly, very chatty person and she is more reserved.”
When asked if she drew any inspiration from the Margot Robbie and Jacob Elorbi movie, she responded, “No, because I was told that we were doing a slightly different version. It was very different. I wanted to create something that was unique and my own.”
On the title of the current chapter of her life, Sky said, “New Beginnings.”
For her fans, she said, “Oh my gosh, thank you so much for all your support. I adore you guys. I’ll keep creating as long as you guys keep enjoying my products. Love you.”
“With ‘Wuthering Heights,’ I want you guys to feel the heartbreak, the love, the joy and the sadness that we all had to endure on set,” she concluded.
