Filmmaker Ashton Arbab will release his latest short film, “Summer of ’76,” a rock-and-roll coming-of-age story set against the vibrant backdrop of 1970s youth culture, on May 1st, 2026. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
Written and directed by Arbab, the film follows a group of young friends navigating music, friendship, and the fleeting magic of adolescence during one unforgettable summer. Blending nostalgic imagery with a soundtrack inspired by the golden era of rock, Summer of ’76 captures the spirit of a generation chasing freedom, creativity, and identity.
The film features a young ensemble cast portraying the tight-knit group of friends at the heart of the story, including Ashton Arbab (Fear the Walking Dead), Aliza Kate Barlow (Her Life Is On The Line), Francis Faye (Black Panthers of WW2), Lacey Claire Rogers (Bel-Air), Garrett Miller (Siesta Key), Brandon Bonilla (His & Hers), and Indiana Massara (The Crusades).
Produced under Arbab’s banner Arbab Entertainment, the film draws heavily from the aesthetics and cultural atmosphere of the 1970s, featuring vintage cars, analog filmmaking influences, and a music-driven tone that evokes the era’s rebellious energy.
“Summer of ’76 is really about that moment in life when everything feels possible,” Arbab said. “It’s about music, friendship, and the kind of summer that stays with you forever.”
The project marks Arbab’s latest independent release as the filmmaker continues building his slate of narrative work under Arbab Entertainment. Known for blending nostalgic visuals with youthful storytelling, Arbab’s films often explore themes of identity, ambition, and the emotional intensity of growing up.
“Summer of ’76” will premiere online on May 1st, 2026.
