Big Picture Ranch, the Ojai-based production company founded by award-winning filmmakers Josh Tickell and Rebecca Tickell, is proud to announce the launch of the educational edition of their critically acclaimed film Common Ground called “COMMON GROUND REDUX.” #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
Now streaming free for schools at The Regenerative Classroom, this new classroom-focused cut condenses the documentary into a 45-minute program designed for grades 3–8, with curated film segments and standards-aligned teaching guides.
The Regenerative Classroom resource provides lesson plans, discussion prompts, and flexible learning materials at no cost to educators nationwide, encouraging meaningful conversations about sustainability and regeneration from elementary through higher education. To support the rollout, Big Picture Ranch will launch a targeted outreach campaign across Instagram, Facebook, and educator newsletters, ensuring teachers and students everywhere have access to these vital tools.
Common Ground Redux, an educational cut of the award-winning Common Ground (the full feature is streaming on Amazon Prime), the acclaimed follow-up to Kiss the Ground (also streaming on Amazon Prime), released in September 2025 for students, farmers, and advocates.
It showcases the positive impact of regenerative agriculture through farmers like Gabe Brown, who restored his North Dakota farm with no-till and cover crops, Rick Clark, who saved millions on 7,000 Indiana acres using regenerative practices, and Leah Penniman, who transformed her upstate New York farm through regenerative techniques.
Narrated by a celebrity cast including Woody Harrelson and Jason Momoa, it blends storytelling, visuals, and expert insights to promote crop rotation, minimal tillage, and rotational grazing, enhancing soil health and carbon sequestration. Common Ground has won multiple awards, including at the Tribeca Film Festival, influenced a $20 billion U.S. commitment to climate-smart and regenerative farming, and boosted public awareness.
The film shows how American farmers and ranchers can produce healthy food, clean air, clean water, and biodiverse ecosystems while increasing profitability, offering a clear pathway for regenerating our earth.
“As filmmakers, advocates and parents, we believe education is the bedrock of transformation,” said Josh Tickell and Rebecca Tickell, directors of Common Ground.
“By bringing core lessons of regeneration into classrooms everywhere, we’re empowering teachers and inspiring the next generation to care for the planet and their communities.
“Understanding our food systems is fundamental to understanding the ripple effects of climate change,” said Bryce Coon, Director of Education, EARTHDAY.ORG. “The Common Ground curriculum clearly illustrates this connection. When students learn about farming and sustainability, they are better equipped to grasp the complex links between the climate and our daily lives. Comprehensive, interdisciplinary climate education gives students in every subject the tools to see these connections and inspires them to become the next generation of solution-finders.”
“Farmers and ranchers have the opportunity to lead the world,” said farmer and film co-star Gabe Brown. “ They can provide consumers with nutrient dense food, clean air, clean water, healthy, vibrant, biodiverse ecosystems all while increasing their own profitability. The key is regenerative agriculture it is truly Common Ground for Common Good.”
