Esteemed Brazilian photographer Elton Davel received recognition in New York City. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.

He is based in the United States since 2017. Davel was one of the highlights of the New York Photography Awards, a popular international award that celebrates the art and creativity of photographers from around the world. A picture titled Infinite Element won gold in the editorial category and features the universal symbol of infinity through the bodies of a couple of dancers.

The New York Photography Awards aims to honor and honor the talent of photographers who push the boundaries of photography and manage to tell stories through their images.

And speaking of history, the award-winning photo carries a story worth telling. In October 2022, it was part of a photography exhibition on display at the traditional Chelsea art gallery circuit in Manhattan. The incredible series of 26 pictures named The Four Elements was created in partnership with Brazilian dancers Ana Luiza Luizi and Junio Enrique, known on the internet as That Brazilian Couple.

The exhibition highlighted the connection between human beings and the four elements of nature in a unique way. In each image, the dancers appeared interacting with water, fire, earth and air.

According to the photographer, the objective was to show, through the lens, how powerful these elements can be.

“This award came to confirm that my intuition was right”, reveals the artist. “It is the opportunity for independent photographers to receive international recognition and gain more space in the industry”, he concluded.
