Bryce Maloy chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing Kansas in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Background on the Mister USA pageant
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment.
Mister USA believes in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
Competing in Mister USA
On competing in Mister USA, Maloy said, “It feels really good. It is really exciting. It’s something different. I am a little nervous but I am super excited at the same time.”
Repping Kansas
On repping Kansas, he said, “I feel really good about representing Kansas. I feel I can represent it pretty well coming from a small town. I hope to represent it the best way I can too.”
Daily motivations
Regarding his daily motivations, he shared, “To wake up and live life to the fullest. There are plenty of things I want to do in life, and this is definitely something that I want to add to the list.”
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, he responded, “I don’t have any plans set in stone yet. I want to just keep living life. My girlfriend just graduated from college, so we are starting our next chapter. I just want to keep going with what I am doing right now.”
Advocacy for Mister USA
Maloy opened up about his advocacy for the 2025 Mister USA competition. “I want to show people that you don’t have to care about what other people think,” he said. “You can be into whatever you want to be, and you do whatever you want to do. It doesn’t really matter who you are or where you come from. If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish a lot of things.”
Defining moments
On his career-defining moments, he stated, “Some of my more defining moments were just being involved with bodybuilding and winning my first show and becoming a natural pro athlete. That helped define me.”
“Also, l graduated from college last year with a degree in Computer Science, and now I’m a full-time software engineer,” he added.
Advice for hopefuls that wish to go into fitness and tech
For hopefuls that wish to go into tech or fitness, Maloy said, “In bodybuilding, it’s easy to try to keep up with everything and do what others are doing, but the best thing you can do is find what works for yourself, and just keep building off that… what works for you and what you enjoy is a big part of it so you don’t start hating it.”
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “Trying new things because I am really trying to expand.”
“Now that I have my college degree, I have my baseline set, so now, I can try new things and experiment with what I really like and want to do, now that I have a backup plan, for sure,” he explained.
Success
Regarding his definition of the word success, Maloy said, “Success means to be happy and having something to look forward to when you wake up every day without having too much stress in your life.’
Closing thoughts about Mister USA
Maloy concluded, “I want people to know that you can really come from anywhere to do anything. Where you come from doesn’t really determine where you are going to go.”
One thing is for certain… Bryce is not in Kansas anymore!
