Clay Aiken (the runner-up of Season 2 of “American Idol”) released his latest studio offering “Rewind” on September 25th, and it is a compelling collection. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.
This nine-track collection marks Aiken’s first album of new original music in nearly two decades, and it is a long-awaited return to the recording studio for the multi-platinum singer.
Led by the title track “Rewind,” written by Colton Avery and Dave Audé and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Audé, the album introduces a new chapter for Aiken while keeping the unmistakable voice that first connected him with millions of listeners more than two decades ago.
Aiken debuted “Rewind” on the American Idol finale this past May, thus returning to the stage where audiences first discovered him.
It opens with the uplifting “Way Out” and it is followed by the vivacious “Brand New Eyes” and the equally catchy “Kyrie.”
He picks up the pace with “What Comes Next” while his rendition of “Time After Time” is stirring and ethereal.
After the mid-tempo title track “Rewind,” and it closes with the earworm “Look How Far We’ve Come” and on a fitting note with “Simplified,” where he leaves his listeners wanting to hear more.
