Griffin Blazi chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his career in the entertainment industry and being an actor in the digital age.
Scottish politician Walter Elliot once said: “Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.” This quote applies to Griffin Blazi.
Vertical drama space
On being an actor in the vertical drama space, he remarked, “The first vertical drama I did was back in 2023, which was ‘Billionaire CEO’s Obsession’ with Casey Schryer. I didn’t think that much would come of it after that… I was like, ‘Why is this thing being filmed vertically?’ I thought it was a web series. So, flash forward to today, I don’t know how many verticals I’ve done, but I’ve been pretty consistent for the past two to three years. So, my experience has been great.”
Motivations as an actor
Regarding his daily motivations an actor, Griffin said, “When you put on the wardrobe, and you step onto a set, and the art did their thing and the light all placed, and it’s your time to hit your hit your marks when they say action, I think that’s a pretty big adrenaline rush for me, especially when the characters are exciting and chaos and whatnot.”
“I enjoy doing that over what I did before, and I couldn’t have done any of it if it wasn’t for the fans and the success of the verticals,” he acknowledged.
“I’m happy to be living out my early adult dream… I had an idea to be an actor at 20 years old, and here I am 13 to 14 years later, and chasing an idea of a 20-year-old. It’s fascinating,” he exclaimed.
“To acknowledge where you’re at now from where you started is really cool, and my goal is to get bigger and better,” he added.
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology, and social media are so prevalent, Griffin said, ” I first started when there were in-person auditions, mainly, when nobody really did at home self-tapes or anything like that. So, watching the landscape change all the way to vertical world has been a wild trajectory. I am happy to be here, and I am happy to be a part of it. You never know what the next cycle is going to bring.”
“Now, you have this dawn of these microdramas and verticals for the past few years now, and it seems like they are a massive success. So, it’s one of those things, where sometimes you just get lucky, and I think I am in that moment right now,” he noted.
Plans for the future
On his future plans, he shared, “Well, I’ve been doing a bit of writing. I would like to someday see a future vertical of mine come to fruition, or a feature film. I don’t know if it will get picked up by anybody or if it will fit the mold, but I would like to see that at some point in my future.”
“Other than that, I just got back from Cannes Film Festival,” he noted. “So, I’m excited to continue on with the contacts I made out there.”
“Right now, I am taking things one day at a time and building the road brick by brick. I just got back from a little vacation, so that was nice,” he admitted.
New film with ReelShort
Griffin is thrilled to have a new move “Alpha Daddy Make Me Yours” with ReelShort.
“I just had a new film come out with ReelShort. So, that will probably be taking up my messages for the next few days. I’m the Alpha daddy baby,” he exclaimed. “Someone has got to be it,” he said with a sweet laugh.
Advice for young and emerging actors
For young and aspiring actors, he encouraged them to “keep at it.”
“A very small percentage of actors get that overnight success,” he noted. “Once you stick with it and don’t fall out, you will find it eventually. You don’t know what it’s going to look like, so don’t bat your eyes on it. If it isn’t what you thought it was going to be — if you are not some big breakthrough star — you need to remember that you have to dig your way through the trenches, that’s part of the journey.”
“I’ve heard people in far higher positions than me that’s the most fun, so enjoy it,” he said.
“Stay with it and find out how you fit in. It’s a big industry. There’s acting, there’s writing, there’s producing, and there’s directing… if you are young enough, then try them all. See what role best fits your lifestyle,” he elaborated.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “Rinse and Repeat.”
“Book one, execute it, and do another one. We shall see. Look… with all that comes new clothes to wash. So, I am trying to add to my wardrobe,” he explained.
“Whether it’s a feature film, so be it, or work in different markets. Who knows? You only live once so you’ve got to go out there and explore,” he added.
Success
On his definition of the word success, Griffin said, “Success means just being happy with what you do, being able to enjoy your life, and not have to work to live… that’s a big one”
“Also, not taking anything for granted, being appreciative, and not forgetting where you came from,” he said. “Being humble and loyal.”
Message for his fans
For fans and supporters, Griffin expressed, “I would like to say ‘thank you so much’ for all of the love and support. Good God, none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the fans. So, a very huge ‘thank you.’ I send all my support back their way, for sure.”
“Without the fans, I wouldn’t be doing the jobs that I’m doing. So, all of this, is a big kudos and a big ‘thank you to them. I definitely don’t take them for granted,” he concluded.
