Her Majesty Queen Diambi Kabatusuila, traditional African Queen of the Bakwa Luntu people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been named keynote contributor to the Earth Gratitude Challenge, a global 21-day initiative launching on Earth Hour, March 28, and culminating on Earth Day, April 22. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the scoop.

Featured in the Emmy-nominated Netflix series African Queens: Njinga and known as “The People’s Queen,” Queen Diambi shares a message of unity, ancestral wisdom, and practical environmental stewardship. Guided by the philosophy of Ubuntu—“I am because you are”—she bridges traditional leadership with modern global advocacy, focusing on sustainability, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.

The Earth Gratitude Challenge, led by Natalie Pace, invites participants to engage in simple, guilt-free, gratitude-based daily practices that support environmental care. Through short videos, reflections, and actionable steps, the platform offers accessible ways for individuals and communities to contribute to a healthier planet.

As environmental challenges become more personal and immediate, people are seeking hopeful, practical solutions. Queen Diambi’s work spans cultural diplomacy, climate advocacy, and women’s empowerment.

Queen Diambi is the founder of The Elikia Hope Foundation, a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to improving lives in the Congo through clean water initiatives, education, healthcare access, and economic empowerment programs for women. Through sustainable well-drilling projects and community partnerships, the foundation continues to make a measurable difference in underserved communities.

The Earth Gratitude initiative is a global storytelling and education platform featuring a free five-part docuseries, short films, and resources focused on everyday sustainability, conservation, eco-conscious education, and well-being. Supported by partners including Waterside Productions and LaunchMoxie, the program aims to make its content widely accessible.

Challenge participants will explore small, meaningful actions that can be integrated into daily life, reinforcing the idea that collective impact begins with individual steps.
