Jacob Kuhn spoke with #Powerjournalist about representing Arizona in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Mister USA competition
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment. They believe in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
The finals will be held on August 30th at the Universal Hollywood Hilton in Los Angeles, California.
“I am excited,” he said. “I have never done anything quite like this competition-wise. I am looking forward to it. Trying something new is always a challenge, and I am up for it.”
Kuhn is thrilled to be representing Arizona. “I do reside in California, but my last family reunion was in Arizona. It’s a great place. I love playing golf in Arizona, even though it’s very hot there,” he admitted.
Daily motivations
On his daily motivations, he said, “There are two people that I have to make proud other than my parents, and that’s my younger self (12-year-old me) and my older self (80-year-old me). In terms of motivation, I would have to act accordingly each day. Honestly, discipline goes a long way.”
Advocacy
Regarding his advocacy for Mister USA, he remarked, “I would like to raise awareness for men’s mental health, for sure. A lot of men undergo a lot of challenges and trials in their life that they feel they can’t reach out for. I’ve tried — in my own inner circle — to be more open about that.”
“I want people to know that they can lean on me; that’s what brothers are for,” he added.
Kuhn on why he feels he deserves to win Mister USA
When asked why he feels he deserves to win Mister USA, Kuhn responded, “I think there are a lot of great contestants and anyone who wins will be very deserving. Everyone has been through some trial or tribulation themselves. This is a great opportunity for everyone to highlight what they’ve persevered through.”
Future plans
On his future plans, Kuhn stated, “I am making somewhat of a switch into acting, and it has been quite the adventure. It’s a different industry from modeling but I’m up for the challenge for sure. I’ve met some great and talented people along the way, and I am very eager to continue down that path.”
Superpower of choice
His superpower of choice would be “the ability to inspire hundreds if not thousands.”
“Also, being very well-versed in speech to inspire everyone to do better for themselves and their neighbors,” he said.
Success
On his definition of the word success, he said, “Success means learning from failure and mistakes. Loss is only a loss if you don’t learn from it. Success means that you took something from your previous failures and apply it to whatever else you are doing moving forward.”
Closing thoughts
Kuhn remarked, “Being lucky is when preparation meets opportunity. If you continue to work hard no matter what the circumstances are, God will provide a light at the end of the tunnel.”
