Actress Jameson Leigh spoke with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about her acting work in vertical dramas. Two in particular that she discussed include “My Obsessive Mafia Husband” for Vigloo and “Bound by Blood: The Mafia King’s Sweetheart” for DramaBox.
‘My Obsessive Mafia Husband’
The synopsis is: After saving wounded mafia heir Roman Kanevelli (Volodymyr Pielikh), nurse Hannah Hale becomes the target of his relentless obsession. Roman refuses to let her go and forces his way into her life-and into marriage. As betrayal, danger, and tragedy unfold, Hannah (Jameson Leigh) resists the man who claims to love her. Yet behind Roman’s ruthless control lies a devotion so intense it begins to change her fear into something deeper.
She starred in the Vigloo vertical drama “My Obsessive Mafia Husband” opposite Volodymyr Pielikh. “Filming this was so much fun, because I loved the team,” she admitted. “I loved every single person on the team… Tristan, Zach (who is the best director) and Volodymyr.”
Working with Volodymyr Pielikh
On working with Volodymyr Pielikh as her leading man, she said, “It was so much fun! Volodymyr is such a silly guy. You can’t go five minutes in a room with him without laughing your butt off. He is just so funny.”He has the funniest accent, and he is so incredibly in love with his wife, and it’s adorable. We were just giggling the whole time. It was just so fun.”
Playing Hannah
On playing Hannah, she remarked, “I liked how when my character, Hannah, didn’t want to do something, and she stood her ground, so she wouldn’t do it! I liked that she had a lot of fire in her, which is something that I can relate to.”
On the lessons learned from the screenplay, she said with a sweet laugh, “It definitely taught me that I don’t want to be in an arranged marriage. I would not want to marry for love with a mafia person.”
‘Bound by Blood: The Mafia King’s Sweetheart’
The synopsis is: After bakery girl Lily (Jameson Leigh) saves mafia boss Salvatore (Franky Cammarata) with her rare blood, she is sold by her stepmother—only to be rescued into his dangerous world of power, jealousy, and betrayal, including his delusional “fiancée” Bianca. Will love survive bullets and bloodlines… or will the mafia destroy them first?
“That one was so fun to film and I did that so long ago. It feels like a blast from the past,” she admitted. “It was my second time working with Franky Cammarata. So we just had such a great time, as always. It was an amazing team. I am so lucky to work with such wonderful, patient and talented teams and crews.”
Playing Lily
On playing Lily, she said, “Lily was definitely a lot more soft spoken. She was a lot more insecure. I really liked watching her grow throughout the script. I liked that she was a baker. I thought that was really cute, and I had a lot of fun with that.”
“This screenplay taught me that I never want to be branded. That was not a fun scene to film. I mean, it was funny and we were having fun with it, but it was crazy. I remembered reading that in the script,” she noted.
Message for her fans
For her fans, she expressed, “I would like to say ‘thank you’ for watching my verticals. I am honored to feel like my work is appreciated and seen… it genuinely it makes me want to cry thinking about it.”
