Actress Katelyn Rose chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about starring in vertical dramas. She played the female lead in “My X-Ray Vision Sees Right Through You,” which was just released on ReelShort.
This vertical drama has generated over 20.6 million views in only 2.5 days, which is an impressive milestone.
‘My X-Ray Vision Sees Right Through You‘
On starring in the new vertical drama, she remarked, “That was my first one with ReelShort, and it was great! I had so much fun with the entire cast and we are all still close friends. I am glad the series is doing so well.”
Playing Liv
On playing the lead female Liv, she exclaimed, “It was so much fun! I just came off playing a nerd from a prior role so to go straight into playing the biggest influencer in the world was the polar opposite.”
“Obviously, Liv has her downs, but she was still so much more than just a typical influencer. Liv was going through those hardships, and she was stronger than a lot of people gave her credit for. I think it was so much fun bringing that to light,” she elaborated.
Presently, her vertical drama sits at No. 1 in popularity ranking on the ReelShort charts. “That’s crazy,” she exclaimed. “We are very, very happy that it’s No. 1 right now… it is doing so well and people are liking it!”
Working with Joel Erdmann
On working with Joel Erdmann as her leading man, she remarked, “Oh my gosh, Joel was great! I believe it was his fist vertical as a leading man, and he was incredible to work with. He was so much fun, so sweet, and we are still chatting and hanging out to this day. Overall, Joel was such a gem!”
“I believe they are all doing a ‘Watch Party’ tomorrow, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend since I am on a set filming,” she noted.
Vertical drama space
On being a part of the vertical drama space, she said, “It has been great! I’ve had such wonderful experiences in this space. Initially, I was nervous, for sure, when I first started out. Then, I did my first supporting role with CandyJar, and I just had the best time ever!”
“I don’t think I could have had a better start to my vertical career, and then, it kicked off consistently ever since,” she observed.
“I have been able to quit my day job, which was been incredible, and now I am able to do what I love full-time, which feels like a dream,” she admitted.
“Normally, this doesn’t happen very often in the acting world, and I’ve been so grateful to be able to experience all this,” she added.
Advice for young and aspiring actors
For young and emerging actors, she said, “If this is truly what you love and what you want to do, then you shouldn’t let other people’s opinions deter you from doing this.”
“For me, there was never a Plan B. We only have one life, so if we are not spending it doing what we love, then we are not doing it right,” she explained.
Stage of her life
On the title of the current chapter of her life, she revealed, “Changes.” “My life has changed so much in the past year… from verticals, to family matters, to relationships,” she admitted. “It has just been quite the year!”
Superpower of choice
Her superpower of choice is “memorizing scripts.” “I don’t know what it is but I can read a script two times and I can have the entire thing memorized,” she noted.
Success
Regarding her definition of the word success, she said, “Success, to me, means feeling like I’m in the right spot, no matter how many followers other people have. Success is doing what I love for a living. If I am doing that, then I think that I am successful enough.”
Message for her fans
For her fans and supporters, she expressed, “Thank you. I love you all! I literally read every single message that I get… every single one. I see every video that they make… I see them all, and I love it all!”
“The fans are what keep me going. That is my favorite part of my job… just seeing their reactions to the work that I do,” she added.
