Hunter Warr chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about being a fashion model, influencer, and an aspiring actor in the digital age.
American poet and painter E. E. Cummings once said: “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” This inspirational quote applies to Hunter Warr, who has been taking the contemporary social media and modeling scene by storm.
The digital age
On being a part of the digital age, at a time when social media and technology are so prevalent, Warr remarked, “It’s very interesting. It’s always interesting. I wish I would have done this back in the 90s and early 2000s, where being a model was a little bit more glamorous.”
Daily motivations
Regarding his daily motivations as a model and content creator, Warr said, “Each day, I am motivated by life. I think I had a tough high school experience, where it was tough, growing up. Now, I think I have made a name for myself and gotten out of that type of life and I am becoming who I am, and growing my career.”
“That motivates my life. My family motivates my life,” he admitted. “Also, just trying to genuinely make a better life for myself every day is what motivates me. I’m trying to also give back to the people that gave me so much in life that helped me grow and be the person I am.”
“I think what else motivates me is just always trying to become a better version of myself every day, and it’s hard,” he acknowledged. “You go through struggles and you’re going to have hard times and good times. It is always about trying to keep a smile on my face and keep rolling.”
Future plans
Regarding his future plans, Warr shared, “Hopefully, I want to grow a good career to make enough money to support myself. Also, I would like to buy some land, and invest my money into that. Then, I would like to have a family.”
“I just want a family, some land, some good investments, and to have a great career,” he reiterated. “Also, I just signed with an acting agency, so hopefully, I would like to get into acting and perhaps move in that direction.”
Warr on Ricardo Guerrero
Warr had favorable words about Ricardo Guerrero, director of Pretty Management. “Ricardo is the one that found me. Ricardo is amazing and has influenced my career so much. Ricardo is not just an agent; Ricardo is friend, mentor and someone that pushed my career,” Warr said.
“Ricardo pushes me to work on myself and modeling, and to just continue to get out of my comfort zone. Ricardo has always told me that being out of my comfort zone is one of my strongest abilities, especially getting comfortable being uncomfortable,” Warr explained.
Career-defining moments
On his career-defining moments, he shared, “I would say probably doing ‘Man About Town’ in London. Also, being homesick in London helped define me. I was in London for three months ago. I had never been to a foreign country, and I sat there for that long.”
“That helped me realize how strong I am as a person, how courageous I can be, and how rough this job can be,” he admitted. “Even when you feel like you’re alone, you are not alone. I had people that were supporting me in all ways, shapes and forms but I just didn’t realize it at the time.”
Speaking of “Man About Town,” it is a London-based, biannual British style magazine for men. “I’ve done jobs that have defined me as a person such as ‘Man About Town’ cover, which was great, ” he said.
Warr on being a part of Miley Cyrus’ music video for ‘River’
“Also, I would say that being a part of Miley Cyrus’ video for ‘River’ was absolutely a defining moment in my career. It was so cool to work with her and her team!”
“Also, doing some of the smaller shoots allowed me to met people that have helped define my journey. Without those small jobs, I wouldn’t have met those beautiful, creative people that have shown me so much about life.”
“They have taught me things that I would have never learned if I wasn’t doing that particular job. My agents have taught me so much and my friends too. The same holds true with the different cities I’ve been to,” he said.
“Being alone in any major city is one of the most difficult things,” he said. “I think we, as models, don’t really understand until you start doing it. You showing up to New York or LA or London or Paris or Milan or anywhere else, and you’re alone in these cities and you have to make friends and you start doing things. You have to be okay with being alone. You are never lonely, but you are alone,” he elaborated.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Warr revealed, “Growth.”
“I am trying to grow my career in all aspects, and that is why I signed with an acting agency,” he said. “Acting is going to help my modeling.”
“My modeling is going to help my acting and they’re going to hopefully flow together to a point where I am being able to fully grow into the model and actor that I hope to be,” he elaborated.
Success
Regarding his definition of the word success, Warr said, “For most people, success means money and material things. While I enjoy making money and having freedom, I think success to me is overall happiness.”
“If I’m happy with my work that I’ve put out there, and the things I’ve done, and then, I can look back on my life and know I did everything I could to be as successful as I can, then that is a success,” he explained.
“Also, being able to support my family, and give back to them will also feel like a success at the end of the day,” he added.
Message for his fans and supporters
For his fans and supporters, he expressed, “Thank you so much! I appreciate all of them because they have been very loyal and caring.”
“The fans have all supported me in so many different ways. As I’ve grown as a person, they’ve watched me grow from being this spunky kid to now being an older person who is still a little spunky. I always leave them with the message that they should be nice to people. It is much easier to be nice to people than it is to be rude. It takes so much more energy out of you to be rude than it does to be nice,” he elaborated.
“It is so easy to be a kind human… so just be kind to people,” he underscored. “The fans have been so amazing and they continue to support me on my journey. I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
