Tyler McAfee, who is representing the state of Ohio in 2024 “Mister USA” competition, chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about his latest endeavors.
On repping Mr. Ohio, he said, “It’s exciting. It is truly an honor to be hand-selected for it. I am excited for everything.”
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the “Mister Universe” competition. It celebrates culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence, and empowerment. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
“The message that I want to get across is that ‘truly anything is possible.’ I started modeling a year ago, and a lot has happened so far. It has truly been an amazing experience meeting people along the way,” he said.
This competition will be held on August 11, 2024, in Hollywood. The winner of Mister USA will subsequently represent USA at “Mister Universe” on September 28, 2024, at The Biltmore in Los Angeles.
On his daily motivations, McAfee said, “To be the best version of myself every single day. Also, waking up with the drive and enthusiasm to get out of it each and every day.”
Regarding his future plans, he shared, “I am actually moving in two weeks to Florida, and I will see what I can do in modeling and acting there. I want to explore more in the industry there, especially in acting.”
On being a part of the digital age, he said, “It’s amazing. Just to speak to amazing and wonderful people that are also like-minded and have a passion as much as I do.”
Regarding his career-defining moments, he said, “My mom and the people that support me definitely uplift me to try harder and become the next version of myself.”
For young and aspiring actors and models, McAfee remarked, “You leave your footprint everywhere you go throughout life, so make sure you are carrying yourself with a positive attitude. Uplift others, be a light in the room, and follow your dreams.”
When asked about his superpower of choice, he said, “Teleportation because I would love to travel, visit new cities and cultures, and be in a new environment.”
On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “Seeking Growth.”
He went on to share the best advice that he was ever given: “Because you are alive, anything is possible.”
Regarding his favorite mottos to live by, he said, “Be one percent better than yesterday.”
On the best thing about being his age, McAfee noted, “You get to experience new things and not hold yourself against that. You don’t need to be on a direct path, you can enjoy the journey.”
In track and field, he would pick the 400 meter dash or the 200 meter dash. In swimming, he listed butterfly as his favorite stroke.
On his definition of the word success, he stated, “Success is inevitable if you never give up and if you truly have a support system alongside that loves and cares for you, along with following your intuition throughout life and every single day.”
