Michael “Mikey” Chadwick chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing West Virginia in the 2025 Mister USA pageant. Chadwick has a passion for track and field.
Competing for Mister USA
On competing for Mister USA, Chadwick said, “I am really grateful to be here. I knew I would be doing some good things, and this just happens to be a part of my journey.”
“This is an incredible platform for me to be the best version of myself. I am excited to share who I am,” he acknowledged.
“The main thing about me being on Mister USA has been about being honest and real. Being real is the main thing for me.”
Representing West Virginia
On repping the state of West Virginia, he said, “Having some family ties from West Virginia has been very helpful. Lately, I have been living in California. I want to make West Virginia proud, and I want to do the best that I can.”
Advocacy for Mister USA
On his advocacy for Mister USA, Chadwick remarked, “I want to address being a first generation Asian-American man because it is really important from the culture that I was brought up with. I want to represent it well. I was raised by my mother the majority of my life, so I understand what it’s like to have an emotional perspective yet at the same time teach myself how to be a man, which is really important about being Mister USA.”
“I think men’s mental health is also important,” he noted. “Especially from a self-exploration of who we are trying to become, which is the best version of ourselves.”
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Chadwick said, “Waking up from a fever dream into a reality.”
“Trusting your intuition more than your mind,” he said. “Trusting my intuition and trusting myself. Also, the ‘Not so New Beginning’.”
Superpower of choice
When asked about his superpower of choice, Chadwick revealed, “To stop time, and that is to get a lot more done.” “There is something special about having solitude,” he admitted.
Success
Regarding his definition of success, he shared, “Success, for me, is being able to support myself to 100 percent health at every stage of what I have going on. Also, helping out the people in the Philippines who are underprivileged.”
“Finally, have a really nice place for myself that I can consider home with a nice gym and an area where I can stay fit,” he added.
Closing thoughts on Mister USA
Chadwick remarked about Mister USA, “My genuineness will bleed through the screen that people are watching me on. I’m real and I’m the best I can be. I want to show that to the camera, and that’s the main idea.”
