Actor and filmmaker Nick Milone chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing the District of Columbia in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Matt Cameron (drummer of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam) once said: “Live life to the fullest, and focus on the positive.” This quote applies to Nick Milone, 27, who is a contender in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Background on 2025 Mister USA
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment.
Mister USA believes in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.
Milone on competing for Mister USA
On competing for the 2025 Mister USA pageant, Milone remarked, “It still doesn’t feel real. I recently just had one of my bigger breaks in the acting industry doing ‘Suits: LA’ the other week, and just the feeling of being on set there didn’t feel real either.”
“Now, this opportunity has come up for me and it’s still surreal,” he said. “I am really humbled and just honored. I am quite surprised that I was even asked to do this, so it is pretty cool.”

Repping D.C.
On representing District of Columbia, he said, “I don’t think you can get any better than repping the nation’s capital. That is as great and as American as it gets.”
“I grew up in Pennsylvania, so even though I don’t have strong ties with D.C., I really do want to represent it,” he said. “I was in D.C. a lot growing up, and my cousin went to school there, so I spent a lot of time visiting her in college in our nation’s capital. D.C. has always been such a special place for me when I was growing up. This event feels very patriotic and it is giving me Captain America vibes.”

Future plans
“Really just taking care of my girlfriend and my family. Also, trying to make this dream that I am still chasing more of a reality. I want to become a known name actor whose work people will recognize.”
Rory Gibson
Nick Milone had great words about fellow actor and friend Rory Gibson (“The Young and The Restless” fame).
“Knowing Rory Gibson is one of the biggest blessings in life,” Milone admitted. “I don’t have any family out here, so Rory is the closest person to an older brother. He has been such a great role model to me ever since I moved here. Rory immediately took me under his wing.”
“We have the same manager and Rory is just a sweet, authentic, and humble guy. I’ve always looked up to him. I feel like we’ve challenged and pushed each other to be better. It is great to have somebody like Rory in your corner, so getting to know Rory and becoming friends with him is legendary,” Milone elaborated.

Success
Milone defined the word success simply as “happiness.” “I don’t think money or materialistic things can purchase success,” he said. “I don’t think you can do that.”
“Success is fulfillment with myself and receiving love from the people that I care about and the people that support me. If you have that unconditional love, then that’s success,” he added.

Reflecting on why he should win the 2025 Mister USA
David Beckham once said: “It’s so important to have manners and treat people from all walks of life the way they should be treated.” Nick Milone embodies this wise quote by the iconic soccer player.
When asked why he feels he deserves to win Mister USA, he responded, “I think I can do a great job representing our country.”
“I just want to be someone that people can look up to and know that no matter what they are going through, and no matter how hard things may get, I can throw them on my back (and if the mountain is getting too high), I will make sure that I am carrying them on my back all the way to the top with me,” he elaborated.
“I am not somebody to quit on them,” he expressed. “I have this gravitational pull from the universe where I can’t quit on things. I have to make things happen, I have to do things right, and I have to make good on them. That’s what I’ve been doing my whole life.”
Milone’s goal (by using Mister USA as a platform) is to inspire others to become the best version of themselves.
