On March 23, daytime actors from “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and The Restless” gathered in National Harbor, Maryland, to celebrate a #DaytimePride24 fan event. #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos has the recap.

This event featured actors Camryn Grimes and Cait Fairbanks of “The Young and The Restless,” who make up the supercouple “Teriah,” as well as Mike Manning (“The Bay,” “This Is Us” and “Days of Our Lives), and Colton Little (“Days of Our Lives”). It was hosted by Tony Moore of “Dishin’ Days” with photography from Brad Everett Young.

A portion of the proceeds benefits the charitable organization True Colors United, which implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.

It featured an autograph session, photo opportunities, a question and answer panel discussion with all four actors, and subsequent mix and mingle meet and greet sessions. There was a symbiotic relationship between the actors, fans, organizers, and hosts.

In the Q &A session, when asked what topic they would do a TED Talk on, Grimes revealed that hers would be about her love for manatees, while Mike Manning stated that his would be about scuba diving with environmental sustainability. Little noted that his TED Talk would be about mindfulness, while Fairbanks’ talk would be about her dog.

All four actors, who play LGBTQ characters in their daytime dramas, all spoke and underscored the importance of LGBTQ representation and inclusion in the media. While representation seems to be getting better these days, they noted that there is still more work that needs to be done.

Camryn Grimes also shared that she is a huge fan of Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”).

On “The Young and The Restless” getting renewed for four more years, Fairbanks and Grimes concurred, “It is so nice to know that we will have steady work.”

Grimes also enjoyed playing the dual roles of Cassie and Mariah. “That was super fun, and I always wanted the opportunity to play Cassie and Mariah,” she admitted. “I like when our show takes the opportunity to do something fun. Getting the opportunity to do that was really nice.”

“It was a wonderful, laid-back, and overall, a great event,” said Michelle Lebowitz, fan and attendee.

“I am so glad I chose this particular event to attend for the first time,” said Tanya Barlow. “I came there to meet Camryn and Cait, but in the end, I also got to meet two other amazing people (Mike Manning and Colton Little). My favorite part was actually the Q & A segment, where everyone just really had one big conversation with the actors.”

Conclusion

Overall, the Spectrum Celebrity fan event in National Harbor, Maryland, was a major success. It was warm, intimate, pleasant, peaceful, and structured. Congratulations to Scott Layne and Matt Litchfield for running such a smooth and well-organized fan event. A great time was had by all. This event garnered an A rating. Bravo.
