Sal Stowers sat down and chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos at The Burbank Studios about playing Lani in “Days of our Lives.”
On being a part of “Days of our Lives,” she exclaimed, “I am honored to be here… ‘Days’ has been a big part of my life for the last 12 years.”
Playing Lani Price Grant
She is known for playing Lani Price Grant, and she is drawn to her character for several reasons. “Loni is great… she is such a badass. She is also loving, and she has this strength about her that I just really love. Loni is special,” she said.
Working with Lamon Archey
Stowers had great words about working with Lamon Archey, who plays Eli Grant. “I’ve known Lamon for a really long time,” she said. “We used to model together. I think we met when I was 18. Then, he came on ‘Days of our Lives’ and we got to work together… so it has been fun and great. Lamon is a goofball and he’s really fun.”
Dialogue-heavy
When asked how she handles being dialogue-heavy on the show, she remarked, “Some days, it’s fine because once you get on the train, you just learn how to do it.”
“I think that the more time you spend here, the more you are working, it gets really easy. It’s not that bad… sometimes, it can be bad, but overall, it’s not that bad,” she admitted.
Transition from doing ‘Days of our Lives’ and ‘Tyler Perry’s Sistas’
Stowers opened up about the transition filming “Days of our Lives” and “Tyler Perry’s Sistas.” “Honestly, there is not much of a difference. They both film at a quick pace. Tyler Perry is perhaps even quicker because we are shooting so much more in such a short amount of time. With Tyler, we film a season in two weeks,” she elaborated.
“So ‘Days’ has definitely prepared me for that,” she admitted. “I think having this background really sets you up for there. You can improv a little bit more over there. When you are working that fast, you need to really be comfortable with your dialogue to do something like that. Same with here too. So, it’s a similar world.”
“I think I work really well in that under-pressure, quick pace. As an artist, I feel that I work best with my intuition. I am just in the moment where we go, do it, and we play,” she added.
Stage of her life
On the title of the current chapter of her life, she revealed, “Phoenix Rising.”
“I am coming out of a very dark time, and like a phoenix, I am rising from the ashes, baby,” she said.
Advice for young and emerging actors
For young and aspiring actors, she said, “If this is something that you really, really want to do, don’t just do it because you want to be famous. Don’t do it because you want to be on TV. This is not for the weak.”
“This is a very, very tough industry,” she underscored. “You do have to have thick skin. The only way you win is if you stay in the game. You may be lucky and book a pilot your first round, or it may take you 20 years. Just stay in the game. I promise you that it’s worth it.”
Success
Regarding her definition of the word success, Stowers said, “Honestly, success means living my best life.”
“I am letting it out. I don’t want to leave this planet with all my light and greatness inside of me. I want to make sure that I live it to the fullest. So, by me getting to do what I love and let my light shine, that’s success,” she explained.
Message for her fans
For her fans and supporters, Stowers expressed, “I love my fans. Honestly, thank you. Thanks for supporting my entire journey from everything that I have done.”
“Also, thanks for the support of Lani coming back on the show. You guys are a big part of that and why I am here. I just feel so loved by you guys. You guys send me such special and sweet messages. I am really honored. Thank you… your support means a lot,” she concluded.
