Fitness coach and athlete Treven Hokland chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing Wyoming in the 2025 Mister USA competition.
Albert Einstein once said: “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” This quote applies to Treven Hokland.
Mister USA competition
Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment. The 2025 finals will be taking place on Saturday, August 30th at The Montalban Theater in Hollywood, California.
Competing for Mister USA
On competing for Mister USA, Treven exclaimed, “Honestly, it is crazy! I’ve never experienced anything like this. It is hard to believe! I am super excited for it. I think it’s a great opportunity for all of the contestants, and it can open so many doors for us. I can’t wait.”
Hokland is thrilled to be repping the state of Wyoming. “Back in the day, when I was 11 or 12 years old, I would go down to Wyoming to do rodeo there, and some parades,” he said.
Daily motivations
Regarding his daily motivations, he shared, “Honestly, just waking up each day. I didn’t wake up in a rich household. I had eight or nine siblings and we lived in a very small house. I didn’t have a dad; I grew up with a single mom. I learned to be grateful for what I have, and that family is super important. That’s what motivates me every day.”
“I wake up and I try to find the good in everything,” he acknowledged. “Working out and seeing progress also motivate me. I want to be someone great for my family.”
On his future plans, he shared, “I want to open up my own gym and I want to have my own protein brand and my own clothing brand. I love talking to people and interacting with people. I want to be a motivator for the rest of my life.”
Why he feels he deserves to win Mister USA
When asked why he feels he should win Mister USA, he replied, “I am probably the youngest competitor and I don’t have much to lose. I’m very mature and I love to help people. Winning Mister USA would be amazing since it would allow me to help more people.”
“I know that if I can win this, I can touch so many more people’s hearts and help so many more people. That’s what I strive to do… I just want to be able to help people,” he added.
“My advice for people that wish that go into fitness is to stay consistent. If you don’t know much about the gym, find a friend that goes all the time and go with them. That way, you can pick up on things. After the first month and once you fall in love with the gym, it will come easy.”
“Once you see progress, that is important, and it’s going to motivate you even more. The most important thing is consistency,” he added.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “Going with the flow.”
“I went to college for wrestling and I ended up dropping out,” he noted. “What I wanted to do was not with college; I didn’t need it. I wanted to be an influencer so I made the decision to drop out and to pursue my career. So far, it has been going well.”
“I live on a farm that is 1000 acres and I am living life right now. I enjoy hunting, fishing, swimming, and I’m just loving every day,” he added.
Success
Regarding his definition of the word success, Treven said, “Success means waking up and being happy. I was born a happy person. I am always happy, even when the days are bad. So, success to me, means being happy, having family and friends that you love. Also, setting goals and reaching those goals.”
Message for his fans and supporters
For his supporters, he expressed, “Thank you guys so much. The hardest thing for me was the naysayers and worrying what people think. My fans and supporting have been amazing; I can’t thank them enough and I wouldn’t be able to do this without all of them.”
