Adrian Quiroz chatted with #Powerjournalist Markos Papadatos about representing California in the 2025 Mister USA competition.

On repping the state of California, he said, “It feels amazing; it feels so surreal! I am so excited, and honestly, so honored to have been chosen to represent my home state. I was born and raised in California.”

Mister USA

Mister USA is an American beauty pageant, which is held annually, and the winner goes on to represent the United States in the Mister Universe competition. It is a celebration of culture, diversity, beauty, intelligence and empowerment.

Mister USA believes in the power of young leaders to make a difference in the world. It is not solely about outer beauty; it recognizes the inner beauty and intelligence of their contestants.

On winning the Mister USA fan vote for California, he said, “It felt like a dream if I am being honest. I wasn’t initially prepared for the fan vote, but as soon as I discovered what it was, I had so much support from my family and friends, and other people that have followed my journey over the years.”

“It was very eye-opening to have that support and connections that I’ve made,” he added.

Advocacy for Mister USA

On his advocacy, he shared, “Through Mister USA, I would really like to honor the title and the responsibility to assist in as many issues as I potentially can. I am a strong advocate for families struggling with immigration and financial issues, as well as a really strong advocate for mental health.”

“I would love to partner with different agencies and organizations through Mister USA to extend the impact that this legacy can have on the younger generations to come and our current climate,” he elaborated.

Quiroz on why he should win Mister USA

When asked why he should win Mister USA, he responded, “If given the honor of being this year’s Mister USA, it would be because I best represent what the American dream looks like today.”

“In today’s society, there are many things that divide us as a country, however, each and every one of us embody many intersectionalities. I’ve empowered my intersectionalties and strengthened them through overcoming my hardships and my struggles. I only hope to show young boys that they can build from the ground up, and I believe I am a living example of that.”

Daily motivations

On his daily motivations, he said, “Honestly, my upbringing and where I come from motivates me every day. My family and my humble beginnings. Whenever I face a hardship these days, I take a step back and really think about the journey that me and family went through… and that brings me reassurance that things will be okay but I feel empowered that isn’t the hardest thing that I’ve gone through, and that honestly, keep motivating me to keep moving forward.”

Stage of his life

On the title of the current chapter of his life, he revealed, “Everchanging.” “I am continuously finding ways to grow and improve my values, beliefs, and skills, and what I can bring to the universe,” he said.

Success

Quiroz feels that success is defined by each person individually. “Success, to me, is what you make it mean for you.”

Closing thoughts on Mister USA

Quiroz remarked, “I hope I inspire people to believe in themselves more. Just having that dream and being able to think that the 10-year-old version of myself can go for something like this or accomplish something like this. That means the world to me, and I am putting my whole heart and soul into this.”
